Does the neuropathy get worse as the illness progresses?

Hello,

I have been told that I may have developed WM and the pain in my hands and feet is caused by peripheral neuropathy. I have found a patient’s blog who is now unable to walk.

I’m still waiting for the proper diagnosis for my WM but am quite worried about the neuropathy. It is already quite painful. Yet I can still do things: cook, bathe, put on clothes, walk — but will I lose such abilities one day?

I know it’s maybe a question that can be answered only by God, or my consultant, I wanted to know if there are many people who suffer from this awful condition.

I have lost about 10 kilograms in 10 months. I think the cancer is already in my body. I wish the pain doesn’t become worse.

  • Thank you Mike for sharing your experience on your NHL and PN. Mine is caused by thickening blood, my IgM paraprotein. Not due to treatments. But thankfully as Eddie told me, I have been moving and wiggling my feet and hands as much as possible, I managed to sleep without waking up from the sharp pain last night.

I’ll keep trying this simple solution!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi again  …… so this is a rather different cause….. although with similar side effects.

Over my many years on this journey and more specifically during the years volunteering on this Community and more specifically for Lymphoma Action I have talked with many people who were diagnosed with WM and did not require treatment so let’s look for this to be the same for you…… as treatment brings its own challenges.

Always around to chat on this thread or on the dedicated Non-Hodgkin lymphoma group.
