I've been sent for tests within 2 weeks and looking at the NHS webpages, I fear that I'm going to be told that I have cancer of the oesophagus. I'm really scared. Not just about what it means for me, but what it means for my family. I don't know what to do, how to tell my partner. I'm breaking up just typing this

  • That's fantastic news ! Not fantastic that you have a hiatus hernia but fantastic that it isn't cancer.

I hope you're going to have a celebration Tada

Tony61, don't ever be embarrassed for coming on here with your thoughts and worries. I could not be more delighted for you that you are cancer free. This is EXCELLENT news, and truly news like this certainly lifts my spirits. So happy for you. Good luck with any treatment you do need for hernia. Now, go and celebrate with your family and friends... And if you could have a cheeky wee gin and tonic for me, I'd appreciate that lol. Very very best wishes for the future xxxx

i am delighted for you, and don’t be embarrassed about what you wrote, you had good reason to be concerned...

always remember.....if something with your health  doesn’t look or feel right, see a Doctor..

.leave nothing to chance and never self diagnose or presume nothings wrong....Until you have been examined and diagnosed by a medical professional .....that’s how as men we will get early detection diagnosis and treatmeant, .....

    Good Luck

    Take care of YOU

  • It's also as women how we will get diagnosis & treatment; speaking as someone who has something of a phobia of health professionals!!

  • Hello JayneAustenfan

well said......and men are also guilty of having phobias about going to the doctors, going for tests

( especially what are deemed embarrassing tests).... my eldest eat son refuses point blank to go to the Dentist utter terror fills his head at the mere thought...all because at 14it was suggested he have a brace fitted....whilst moulding his mouth with dental clay for the plate he gagged so much he was repeatedly and violently sick......that put him off ever attending again...as an adult I have offered to pay for hypnosis...N.O........is his constant as sweet.

JayneAustenFan....have  you ever heard of EFT...emotional freedom technique...lots of videos on YouTube....it’s like a physical mindfulness......it has help me through most anxiety ridden moments.....

    i wish you well.

    Take care of YOU
