Help I’m drowning ....

Good Morning

My partner has recently been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer with secondaries in the bones and liver. He is having chemo (6 cycles), but this is only to buy us a little more time together. I know he will have more than likely gone before the end of the year.

I can’t find any help locally for either his son (24) or myself. I feel very isolated and like I’m drowning.

again, thank you for your response. I’ve been in touch with the Roy Castle charity and they were lovely, alas there isn’t much available to me and Sam in our area and what is available to Lyndon my partner we’ve already set wheels in motion there.

I was just having a bad day yesterday, I’ve spoken to Lyndon today and he’s apologised for yesterday. It doesn’t excuse the way he has been but it’s a start. Half our problem is, is we’ve shut ourselves away in a bubble over the the last 7 weeks while we process everything which hasn’t really been helpful or healthy. He said I need time to myself, a break and that I should go out with my girl friends who want to take me out to a spa for the day. Previously I have refused but I’m going to go now. He is also going to go out and see he’s friends too instead of being hold up in the house all the time.

I think this is a step in the right direction for us both, but we need to sort out Sam as he really is struggling. He’s had previous mental health problems and I know Lyndon is worried that he’ll slip back to where he was after making such amazing progress over the last two years. I shall keep looking for help for him.
