Is anyone else finding wearing their garments difficult in this heat? I have to cover up after radiotherapy and find it frustrating adding layers while everyone else is is taking them off in the heat! Just needed to have a moan to people who understand.

  • Thank you to jane2511 for the link to ideas for a heatwave.

I have had compression garments for 15 years now and I am finding I can’t cope with them any more:

    - I really suffer with the heat!  Anything over 22C and I feel so uncomfortable and over 24 I feel like I might pass out with it.  And that’s before a hot flush.  Iv been to the docs and told some people are like this.
    - I also have autism so comfortable clothing can be the difference between a functioning and non functioning day.  If it’s a workday I have to pick functioning over the benefits of the compression. It also means that tricks to cool the garments down don’t work for me.
    - finally it was skin cancer treatment that resulted in the lymphoedema.  So I need to wear sun cream under the garment, or something on top as they aren’t uv protective.  Combine that with the autism and it’s a world of “fun”.

It’s so comforting to know there are others out there who feel the same.

With the summers getting hotter, does anyone have any ideas for managing in the heat?  Either summer compression garments or tricks for if you simply cant deal with the wearing them in the heat and want to avoid the pain that comes with the swelling (and the swelling in general).
