Every time I move I am coughing up blood. I have to sit very still and stay very quiet, with a kitchen roll and a carrier bag for my gory tissues. I am literally good for nothing.
I was thinking about getting a much needed haircut today, but I can't subject the poor barber to the sight of me wretching up lumps of lung every two minutes.
What a life.
I am taking tranexamic acid but it's no longer helping. My oncologist has offered me radiotherapy to try to stop the bleeding. Has anyone had radiotherapy for this reason, and was it successful?
Thanks, Stuart x
Just spoken to the oncologist and I am going to have five shots of radiotherapy to try to stop the bleeding from my lungs. Hopefully I'll get a planning appointment in the next few days. They scan me and tattoo a target mark on my chest.
Hope they can work around her
Thanks mate, where are the anti bullying mods when you need them?
Hi Stuart. I had lung radiotherapy, mainly to shrink the tumour in the bronchial airway, but I was coughing up a lot of blood. I had 5 days of radio, and the coughing changed significantly (for the better) on day 3. You cough up a load of crap after the radiotherapy has finished, but since that all stopped I haven’t coughed up blood since. I think it’s worth a shot.
