Good Morning to a new Month

  • Good afternoon sorry not been on here much have started maintenance therapy tablets twice a day 2 tablets with no break just hoping it keeps it under control but the brain fog and fatigue hope your all doing well xx

  • Hi Tvman, my heart goes out to you my friend for the sad loss of one of your family, though Angie's beautiful poem says it better than I ever could, I know you will have given your furry friend the best life possible and a dignified end, which is all we can do.

Hugs and strength to you and the family xx

Thank you Lee  love and best wishes to you sweetheart

  • Good evening to you all,

Eddie just reminded me that it is already a year since our dear friend Ulls ( William ) has past away. My thoughts are with his loved ones and as Ellie would have said ‘sleep in peace Papa Bear’.

    Angie xx

  • Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts regarding Conan, my Irish Wheaten Terrier.

We gave him the best life possible with oodles of love every day. He was diagnosed with Addison's Disease when he was a pup and every 6 to 8 weeks we took him to the vet's for a steroid injection. The vet who administered the drug to put him to sleep said that as he lived to beyond 14 he must have been very well looked after because that's a long time for a dog to live with Addison's. Definitely crumbs of comfort to hang on to.

There are tears running down my face as I'm writing this, we loved him so very much. Of course we'll get over this but at the moment emotions are so very raw. Thanks again everyone.

    Angie, what a lovely poem.

    Tvman x

    Love life and family.
  • My heart is breaking for you Tvman... Our furry family members are such an important part of our lives, they help us get through some pretty tough moments and always have a way of making us smile. Just know that you brought so much enjoyment and love to Conan's life, and always cherish those special little adorable memories with him. Angie's poem is so heartwarming, and very comforting. I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss, and will be keeping your family in my thoughts.

I'm doing okay Patrick, I'm just struggling with my sleep due to the phantom pain. This daily cycle takes an awful toll on me mentally and physically, I'm only able to take short naps throughout the day and night. I'm just exhausted, and anxiously waiting to heal enough so they can move on with the next part of my recovery.

Our weather is similar to Susan's this year, it was warm a couple of weeks ago, and now we're back with cooler wet weather. I guess we dropped down into the lower 30's a week ago, so I'm glad my sisters haven't done much to my garden yet. Once the weather breaks, they know how I would like my raised beds planted, and will stop by often to keep an eye on things so our dad doesn't have to as much.

My mom and I have started to watch our TV shows again. We had put them on hold since I was having a lot of problems staying focused and awake, and I still miss parts when a fall asleep for 5-10 minutes, but my mom just tells me what I missed, or pauses it when she knows I'm sleeping.

It's raining here this morning, but I hope everyone has sunny weather for the weekend.

  • Hi

Lovely to hear from you Stacy. You are making steady progress, keep going! I tried to watch TV when in hospital but often missed half the episode as there is no concentration. I tend to watch tennis or some sort of reality show. Do you have VPN? There is a program from channel 4 - school swap UK and USA which is very interesting . The two schools can’t be more different as one is from a small town in Akansal and another is from London. A bit of culture shock for everyone involved.  Have you watched all creature great and small? I think it was on PBS US? Great for animal lovers.

Angie sorry you have another cancer to deal with. Hopefully this one is reasonably straightforward and quickly dealt with.

Lee what are you up to?

Mich56 hopefully the maintenance therapy is not too bad and you are getting used to it OK. Once it is more stable, you may ask for some sort of break ? We need it physically and mentally.

    Any holiday plans Patrick?

I am doing well. Attended my first medical emergency course since my recurrence 2 years ago. Managed all the CPR etc and got up from the floor! Some more flowers in the garden now and that cheers me up. X

  • Lovely to hear from you Stacy.  What TV shows are you and your Mom watching.  We are nearing the end of The Good Doctor which I love.  Glad to hear you are doing well Stella, you will be off on your cruise soon.  We are hoping to go to Portugal again in September but just watching the price of the flights.  Your flowers are beautiful Stella.  It is raining this morning, just waiting for it to go so I can go for a walk.

  • Hi Lee,

We've also watched a few seasons of The Good Doctor in the past, but I think we're only in season 5, so we need to get caught up. We just finished up The Madison, and we both liked that one a lot despite the sadness in a couple of those episodes. We're both looking forward to Dutton Ranch which starts this Friday. We also like The Pitt on HBO Max, and we just finished Paradise season 2 on Hulu.

Mother's Day was yesterday, and so everyone came here and it was so nice having everyone together at the same time. I wish it would have been at home, but seeing my niece and nephews helps to lift my spirits even when the phantom pain is making me crazy. They're hoping I will still be here for the July 4th weekend, so on the 3rd everyone can watch the Columbus fireworks from my room.

    Hi Stella,

Thanks for the TV recommendations, we don't use a VPN, so I looked up School Swap UK and USA on YouTube, and they have recap and reaction videos on there that cover all 3 episodes for the series, and from the trailer I watched, it looks pretty interesting, so mom and I will watch them this week. Definitely a culture shock between our two countries, so I'm sure it will be an interesting series. We have YouTube TV, so I can watch PBS on there, and will start watching the other show you mentioned, there's 6 seasons of that, so that will give us something to get hooked on. Thank you!

I still would love to travel to the UK someday as I dreamed about doing back when I was in school, and maybe take a tour through Germany, France, and Italy as well. It's one thing learning about history, but visiting landmarks in person is such a meaningful experience. There's so much I would love to see, but I'm sure disabled traveling has a lot of difficulties, and right now I just need to focus on getting as much independence back as possible, buy hey it helps to keep my hopes and dreams fresh in my mind.

  • Hi Stacy we are planning on watching the Madison next and looking forward to Dutton Ranch, love Beth.  Stacy I have never been to America, my husband has always wanted to go.  It is so huge and so different in every state.  The closest I have been is Cuba, Havana was interesting with all the old cars etc.  Maybe one day you will come to the UK and visit.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all meet up. We were planning to go back to South Africa at the end of the year.  The flights alone were £12 200 so that is out of the question for now.  I am glad you enjoyed Mothers Day with all your family.

  • Good evening to you all. Hope you are all doing ok and have had a good few days. I am a bit under the weather at present so not much to chat about Confused. just wanted to wish Stella and Craig a wonderful time during their Cruise. Hope Winston will enjoy his cousins company and will not miss you too much. Lilly is sending her love to him.
Big hug to you all from
