Hi everyone

Here's your new chat thread for April.

We're happy to start this for you, but anyone is welcome to start the thread if you get to it before we do Slight smile

  • Hi

There isn’t a right or a wrong way to feel. This stuff is really difficult. It’s not necessarily the case that starting treatment will make you lose the ability to make the best of the time you have. The trick is getting the dosage right so it helps with symptoms (and hopefully reduces tumour load) without having awful side effects. Hoping there’s a balance there for you and that your logistical challenges ease too. It’s bad enough living with cancer without also feeling like you are having to fight the system. Do keep chatting.

  • Hi Ursula, it's a shock, it sometimes threatens to tear all of us apart, but when you overcome that, like walking up your fell, you realise you still have a lot to give and a lot to gain. You get used to hiccups in the health system but learn not to be afraid to challenge them and stick up for yourself when you need to. I wish you many such good and normal days which I am sure you will have. Loads of people here have experience with chemo and immuno so just ask when you need help or advice.

  • Hi Stacy, I am so glad that at least one wound vac is out and hopefully the other one after Easter.  I love Reece peanut butter chocolates, one of my favorites.  Is the hospital you are at close enough to home for visitors?  I think of you every day.  I had to google what a Buckeye is.  Sending you healing hugs.

  • Angie I have just done the advocate on my four dogs, just over £200.  It's ridiculous. Hope Lilly is over her huff.

  • Thank you, Stella.  Yes, I know what you mean.  I’m having counselling which is helping.  I Amy practicing mindfulness which helps.  I remind myself that TODAY is all that matters.  It’s working better but, oh my, I still grieve at the thought of leaving a good life.

  • Hi Lee,

Thank you so much for keeping me in your thoughts! It's about a 45 minute drive from my parents house when the traffic isn't bad. My sisters drive times are a little longer, but not too bad. My mom has only been home a couple of times when my dad or one of my sisters was here during the day with me, she refuses to let her youngest and favorite daughter here alone, especially at night. I say that jokingly knowing my sisters probably won't ever see this, otherwise they would try to set the record straight and claim I'm the most spoiled and not her favorite. Susan's reply to me helped explain my Buckeye comment to her, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines have a deep college football rivalry. I hope you're having a nice Easter weekend.

  • Good afternoon Lee,

Lilly had returned to normal until it started to snow here about 2 hours ago.  She just looked at me in disgust and curled up on the sofa to sleep. I am convinced her little brain tells her that I produce the rain, snow and wind. Coming down heavily now. Hopefully it will stop by tomorrow as forecast. Stay cosy and safe

  • Good day everyone and furry friends

I have been to a farm and picked some tulips then had pizza for lunch with some friends.

Stacy: Sorry about your severe pain. It must be so horrible. I don’t know whether this helps but when I had severe pain from chemo, I just keep saying ‘this too shall pass ‘ and it does and will do for you too.

Ursula glad you are able to walk and feeling better with pain nurse’s help. The treatment hopefully will ease your symptoms further and you can take part in more activities you enjoy.

Hope everyone have a relaxing Easter
