Hi folks
I just thought I would set you up a new thread for February - in fond memory of Ellie
I'll close the January thread so you can continue chatting here.
Please do feel free to set up your own thread, but we can always do it if you prefer
Thanks Steph, I actually miss the time-honored introductory blurb in Ellie's inimitable style but I suppose you have to learn to let go.
I had a couch sports day today. Tennis this morning, handball this afternoon and now the snooker final. And a bike ride to the allotment inbetween which was nice now the snow has melted. I hope everyone is doing okay and wish everyone a good week whatever you are up to.

Thank you Steph, that was lovely to see Ellie mentioned. She loved this thread, and the MacMillan community, so it’s important we keep this going for her.
Morning Chelle, you are so right about your comments about Ellie. I do hope that some new members will come and join our group soon.
It is cold and intermittently wet here today with snow once again forecast for tomorrow. Dear me, Lilly will be going in the huffs again. She is severely disgusted that my old sofa has gone to sofa heaven and my new one is delayed by a couple of days . Snow tomorrow might just be the last straw for her tolerance . Better stock up on cat treats
. You all have a good week and good luck for tests, scans and appointments. Love from
Angie and Lilly xxx
Good afternoon everyone. Alana01 I hope you don’t have to wait too long for the new sofa!
We are surrounded by flooded roads at the moment. The local river has burst its bank and several houses are flooded, we are lucky we live more up hill, but getting into the local village this morning was very difficult.
Hope everyone is staying warm and dry where you are x
Hi everyone
I had a bit issue since Sunday. I have sent pictures of my new wound opening to the consultant in London and he said it would be fine just need dressing, I went to see the GP nurse yesterday afternoon for this. She was concerned and got the GP in and decides to sent me to A&E. I was feeling totally fine. So I went to A&E and told there is more than 4 hours wait . Because the operation I can’t sit so was standing for an hour and then just can’t cope anymore and went home.
Talked to the consultant again today and he again said there is nothing to worry about. If getting worse he will admit me next Monday in London.
I know the GP probably never seen this level of operation before and does not want to be responsible for anything. But I was not ill and definitely not an emergency. No wonder the A&E is so busy nowadays, they just send everyone there to avoid responsibility.
Rant over!
Poor Lilly ! She must have her own sofa at all times! Winston has been a very good buy and has been cuddling up to me lots x
Hi Patrick
I was watching Australia open final too. Very good match!
are you looking forward to seeing the winter Olympic.
But I was not ill and definitely not an emergency. No wonder the A&E is so busy nowadays, they just send everyone there to avoid responsibility.
Yes, this! I have experienced the same. So many depts in the hospital use A&E as their front door when many drs could use a bit of common sense and advise appropriately, saving the burden on A&E. I just told the A&E desk I was leaving after talking with two drs. It was clear I didn't need to be there. A total time waster all around.
Oh Stella, I would have thought that a wound opening from an operation would and should put you up to the top of the list at A&E to avoid it getting infected. I'd be firing off a letter to the complaints department. Ok, nothing can be done in your case now but if nothing else, it'll shake them up a bit and perhaps no one else will suffer the same fate.
