Hi Stacy, I meant to say in my last message to you when I replied. I'm intrigued about what you said about approaching your town from the south. You said "our town is beautiful in the fall and has some great views when entering the town from the south". If you manage to get out and about Stacy perhaps you could take a photo of the view of your town and post it here? I'd love to see it.

Fingers crossed you get out on that bike path soon, not sure when it gets too cold where you are to do that sort of thing but it would be really cool if you could do it before it does. Winter has its own attractions but you need to be warm with a big window to enjoy it

There's a hill on 37 south of town, so when you're at the top before the traffic light you basically overlook a long valley, and the town on the other side. You can see the grain facility, church steeples, all the mature trees throughout the town up to where you can start to see Denison University at the top mixed in with more tall trees. It's quite the landscape for anyone that hasn't approached from south, especially in the fall. I can have one of my parents take a photo the next time they're out, and again once the leaves turn next month. After all the leaves drop, you can see the college better, and more homes and buildings.

My prosthetic appointments, hospital, and therapist office are all 30-45 minutes west of here in Columbus.

Towards the east end of town not too far from our development there's a place called the Bryn Du Mansion that has a large grass field in front, they play polo there throughout the year when the weather is nice. The Mansion sits up on a slight hill and overlooks the field, so everyone can watch the games easily. They have a lot of school events and weddings there as well.

Thanks Patrick, I hope I'll get out there soon! My chair has a 20 mile range on a single charge, so I can really venture out if I wish. I just need to find my comfort zone with everything.

Hi Stacy, I'm looking forward to seeing the view of your town in Autumn, but don't ask anyone to go out of their way to take a photo. 

For 6 years I was in a wheelchair and then I bought a motorised scooter after my spinal stenosis diagnosis which came 3 months after my incurable bone marrow cancer diagnosis. My motorised scooter has a range of 8 miles but if there were hills involved then I wouldn't have achieved 8 miles so I had to be careful and stay well within range. 

I found that almost everyone would have been very kind, opening doors for me and in my favourite café at the time, when people saw me coming to the door either a customer or a staff member would have got to the door first and opened it. 

There was only one ignorant idiot who moved in front of me at a lift in a hospital and his wife/partner looked at me with an apologetic, guilty expression. 

I hardly use my chair now even though I'm in great pain when I'm on my feet, I use a rollator instead.

Looking forward to see your photos too Stacy. Did you get any nice tomatoes this year? 

The deer is killing all my roses so I am actually quite stressed about it. I have bought ‘liquid fence’ and battery operated sprayer. Will get on spraying once they arrived. I can’t put up fences. Anyone have any other ideas to stop the deer? They also make really loud horrible noise at 4am to wake me up. Wish I know how to shoot.

My dad actually did a decent job and we got a lot of good tomatoes and peppers this year. Granted my sisters were stoping by during the home renovations to help, but it turned out good. Next year I just look forward to managing it myself once we get the beds and patio space figured out. 

I'm glad you mentioned the deer problem you're having, that's an ongoing debate in our neighborhood. Our neighbors all have big gardens and beautiful flower beds, however all of our lots back up to a woods and then the golf course is beyond that. So there's a ton of wild life and deer. A lot of people have tried the liquid deer and rabbit repellant, but that had mixed reactions, because eventually the animals get used to it. Apparently there's coyote urine or something similar in there, and it attracted a lot of coyotes into peoples yards. I remember when that was happening, because everyone was worried about their pets.

Some people were using electric fence kits and the motion activated sprinklers, and those all seemed to have mixed results, because the deer would get used to them. Some people started using the solar deer repellant devices, just search that on Amazon, and you'll see what they look like. Motion sets them off, they produce an ultrasonic noise and creates different led flashing patterns that animals can't adjust to. The problem is that it also bothers dogs and cats. There was never a fool proof solution, plus the led flashing was setting off peoples Ring or other home cameras. I wish I had a solution for you, but just be cautious if you try some of those other devices and sprays. Please keep us posted if you find something that works well for you!

It's not a problem at all for them to get a photo coming from that direction, my dad goes that way a lot, and my mom sometimes gets groceries and comes home that way.

Thank you for all the deer deterrent ideas. I have sprayed ‘liquid fence’ but it smells of bad fish! My roses are under my windows so now I can’t open my windows. It rains quite frequently, I am going to have to spray every other day. I like the idea of the motion sensor water spray so will get it installed. Craig is an electronic engineer so he is going to make some with software written by AI. 

I was on a stroll with my mum tho other day and saw some passion flowers up close as it grows over someone’s garden. They are such stunning 3D flowers. I am planning on growing them next year. Do you have them in Ohio? 

Anyone else grow passion flowers? Any tips? X
