  • Hi Simon and everyone

I have some goals I'd like to share....have been thinking about this thread for a few days!

    1. Claim my state pension! I think I'm entitled to it once I reach my 66th birthday this year, in September. If I'm wrong, and it doesn't kick in until 2026, that's too far ahead to guarantee I'll still be here!

    2. Go on the holiday abroad we've booked for May this year. We haven't been on a holiday for 18 months, so I'm really looking forward to this!

    3. Get properly stuck into my major gardening project; taken on just before I got my cancer diagnosis, so it's been delayed quite often in the last 2 years. It is a big, very overgrown garden!

    4. Get involved with the befriending charity I'm volunteering with....have only just started this, so looking forward to meeting some new people this year.

    AND surviving, of course!

Best of luck/best wishes to everyone and your endeavours this year!

  • I've been pondering this post for a while.... I don't really have 3 goals, never been a particularly 'goal-orientated' person. But my one big overarching motivation, which I guess could be seen as a goal, is to outlive my 16yo cat. 2. And to continue to care for her for all her life. 3. And in August see my 5yo goddaughter start primary school! (and see many other milestones in her life.)

But yeah, right now is about being there for Tiki-cat. Smile cat

  • Hi BoxofFrogs

Yes, your sentiments about Tiki are pretty much the same for me, concerning Candy....she will be 13 in May; a large Golden Doodle, still like a puppy in behaviour!

My biggest worry is being able to care for her, and find an alternative home for her if I'm not able to look after her in future. She's too old for kennels.

We both still enjoy long walks together! So long as it's not raining...

  • Easy.

    1. At least three holidays abroad (has to be Europe though, can't get insurance for the USA

    2. to be more physically active than in 2024

    3. To live to December 31st

  • Holidays are important. I gave up on the idea of travel insurance so Europe only and just made sure I travelled really well prepared, lots of drugs and hoping they didn't have an issue with all the morphine! We have to book things about two weeks notice because my health is so unpredictable but we have managed it. Also, we have a caravan so can go away any time, at zero notice. Good luck.

  • I love the one below about getting the state pension. Oh yes. And my works pension. I  have paid into so I'm gonna have it!

  • Mine are:

    1. Make it to the end of the year

    2. Build back some strength and fitness

    3. Go on some trips in the uk with loved ones, plus go to Slamdunk and Download festivals

  • I would love holidays abroad. With the bloody chemotherapy, it is impossible to have more than a few days off and no booking ahead either.
