Hi I have been receiving bevicazumah (excuse spelling) for a few months every three weeks. Recently I keep having too much protein in my urine and two weeks ago the same again although my bp was far too high so i wasn’t allowed treatment. This week I’m doing another 24 hour urine specimen today and first thing in morning on Tuesday I have a ct scan, blood tests on Wednesday a face to face appointment with my consultant on Thursday and they will decide if I can have treatment on Friday or if they have to look at other treatment options for men if there is any. Has anyone else found their self in same situation? I am terrified incase this is the end of treatment and I’m trying to put a brave face on for my kids but I have no one else to talk to about this thanks if you’ve managed to read this far and would be greatful to hear from anyone else going through similar
Hi Teresa I cannot comment on your exact treatment but have had my treatment stopped a few times due to low blood count etc . They cannot continue giving you treatment if it's going to do you harm . They will hold off till conditions are acceptable. I have had the same thoughts myself and can only say try not to worry. All the Best Minmax
Hi - sorry to read your predicament. I have kidney cancer but my onco explained to me that we would try treatment blah and see how we got on. If that wasn't effective, then we'd try another treatment. There's loads of different immunology options out there. I doubt it's the end of the road, treatment wise. Wishing you all the best.
Hi Teresa22, It's nice to hear from you again, though I am so sorry to hear how frightened your present situation makes you feel, but as Mum says there are other options, or you could stay on bevacizumab a little longer, I have my MDT meeting on the 23rd, my treatment has failed, but I'm confident there will be another one, best wishes with all your appointments next week, will have everything crossed for good news, take care.

Hi Teresa, and a warm welcome as I don't think we have chatted before here!
I was diagnosed with Stage4 Malignant Melanoma and started on a drug Trial for a Target Drug. I was on it for over 3 years and had to stop treatment many times due to the side effects. I remember at the time wondering how it was going to work when I was on and off treatment. I'd like to tell you I started treatment in 2013 after being given a prognosis of 5-7 months!
Since then, they have developed lots of different drugs, so if this isn't the one for you, you have lots of others to try until they find THE one for you! Good luck on Thursday!
Love Annette x
Hi Minmax, Yes I know what you mean about what they can do.i have a hole in my shin where they removed the first melanoma, (I call it my shark bite!) have had a groin dissection, a pin put in from shoulder to elbow because tumours were eating through the bone also a spinal decompression when they put in a plate to stabilise my spine. Yet here I still am!
It is very true, what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger!
Love Annette x
