I was wondering if anyone feels they might benefit from being part of an art group specifically for those here. I'm an artist, though I have to admit to you that I've produced absolutely nothing for ages due to being ill and in hospital, not having anywhere to exhibit for aeons and generally being extremely knackered out most of the time. But then I started thinking maybe I could do something positive about it. I've worked within what's called the 'Arts in Health' sphere and done a lot with things like colour therapy. I'd also like to say that you don't have to be rich to make art. I've done a whole exhibition made from recycled materials. It's all about taking yourself to another place for a while and having a bit of messy fun. No judgemental rubbish or anything like that. And if you don't think you're able to draw anything that looks remotely like what it's supposed to look like, well, that doesn't matter either. I think that maybe for starters you might like to message me if you are interested and then I'll try and work out a little programme. Just for us. Let me know what you think. Rainy X
Hi Rainie
I know you mentioned that, I was just giving a brief explanation to Monica of what had happened because, understandably for a younger person, she found it incredulous.
I realise too that the Allies were fighting for our freedom and thank goodness they succeeded. My parents both served in the navy during world war 2. My dad was a radio operator in the bowels of ships. I say ships because his written war record catalogues them. The life expectancy of radio operators, because of their position, was short.
Compare that war to the war in Ukraine today in which indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas is recorded for future war crimes tribunals and rightly so. Putin will have his day in court. I always wear a little badge in Ukrainian colours because Mrs Tvman and I have a friend in Ukraine (long story) who was 37 weeks pregnant when Putin's Russia began indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl called Sophia.
Take care Rainie

Both my parents served in the war. My mother was a wren and my father was on the mine sweepers in the navy. It is how they met and married within 3 weeks of meeting.
my son has a Ukranian friend from university and she and her family have all left Ukraine now they lived in the east.
im glad the baby was born ok xxx

My father was also in the Navy, but under the water rather than afloat: he was a submariner on HMS Sirdar & Tiptoe. Mum made maps for pilots.
I'm afraid I can't see Putin ever facing a court of law. I'd be quite content if he faced a bullet.
Perhaps we should have some war art as the discussion seems to heading that way. ??? Rainie x
I've come back to the forum after a week away painting with a friend. We've lost some lovely people recently and I know it makes us feel sad and down, but in this place we're a feisty bunch and we bounce back.
I've always turned to art to make my life more positive and so I thought that we needed a bit of a boost. Here are a few pix showing some of the landscapes I've been looking at. Actual art will hopefully come along shortly. As you can see, I like wild, empty places. It would be lovely to see your favourite landscape and nature images. Love to all. Rainie x
