Art for art's sake

I was wondering if anyone feels they might benefit from being part of an art group specifically for those here. I'm an artist, though I have to admit to you that I've produced absolutely nothing for ages due to being ill and in hospital, not having anywhere to exhibit for aeons and generally being extremely knackered out most of the time. But then I started thinking maybe I could do something positive about it. I've worked within what's called the 'Arts in Health' sphere and done a lot with things like colour therapy. I'd also like to say that you don't have to be rich to make art. I've done a whole exhibition made from recycled materials. It's all about taking yourself to another place for a while and having a bit of messy fun. No judgemental rubbish or anything like that. And if you don't think you're able to draw anything that looks remotely like what it's supposed to look like, well, that doesn't matter either. I think that maybe for starters you might like to message me if you are interested and then I'll try and work out a little programme. Just for us. Let me know what you think. Rainy X

  • Tony, what a mysterious photo, just enough light filtering through to see the path underneath. Not sure I'd like to be there when it's dark! You're right, nature is wonderful. When I sit in the middle of my veg plot/allotment and look down at the ground, there's so many insects scurrying around. Then, I listen and I can hear the sounds of nature too-bees buzzing around and birds singing and especially at this time of year I can hear little baby birds chirping loudly when a parent is at the nest with food for them. When the parent bird flies off to find more food, they stop suddenly as if a switch has been turned off.

Take care and stay safe Tony

  • Unknown artist, Maldives seashore. I love the use of blue here, because it appears to embrace sky, sea and sand.

  • Looks good Tony, great colours for the sky and sea.

  • took this on holiday Lake Tahoe I like the different reflections and stones

  • Ive seen several vlogs about the lake. Looks amazing. I.find water soothing, kind of.reflecting.Thanks.

  • Did you know that being by any body of water, not just an ocean, reduces your pulse rate and blood pressure. Even looking at paintings or photographs of the ocean/lake/river will have a positive physical effect. This has been measured scientifically. And sitting on the beach listening to the ocean rhythm tunes your body into the same calming rhythm and helps you shed anxiety and tension. If you can't get on a beach try one of those music tapes like 'Ocean Sounds', close your eyes, lie back and relax. Rainie x

  • no water but equally relaxing, @Rainieday just being in nature, no need to rush for any reason

  • That may explain why i feel more at peace in woodlands or by the sea.
