Art for art's sake

I was wondering if anyone feels they might benefit from being part of an art group specifically for those here. I'm an artist, though I have to admit to you that I've produced absolutely nothing for ages due to being ill and in hospital, not having anywhere to exhibit for aeons and generally being extremely knackered out most of the time. But then I started thinking maybe I could do something positive about it. I've worked within what's called the 'Arts in Health' sphere and done a lot with things like colour therapy. I'd also like to say that you don't have to be rich to make art. I've done a whole exhibition made from recycled materials. It's all about taking yourself to another place for a while and having a bit of messy fun. No judgemental rubbish or anything like that. And if you don't think you're able to draw anything that looks remotely like what it's supposed to look like, well, that doesn't matter either. I think that maybe for starters you might like to message me if you are interested and then I'll try and work out a little programme. Just for us. Let me know what you think. Rainy X

  • I've been doing a course on Abstract Landscape this past month so am just catching up and thought it was time for another beachy image. This sums it up don't you think? Brightness, sand between the toes, nobody else in the frame. Bliss.  Enjoy.  Rainie x

  • I hope that those of you who are now able to go on holiday will start posting your beach snaps here to go with our arty pictures.

Next on my list is 'Wave' by Georgia O'Keefe. A beautiful simplicity about this. Rainie x

  • I would accept that description as applied to myself. I must have been a muse.

  • That is beautiful. I am at my happiest when I am near water, whether that is the sea, a river, lake or stream. The sound of the water is so relaxing, and the wildlife you come across ( we all know I love birds) is magnificent.

I hope you don’t mind me sharing my latest adventure, although not a beach, a wonderful lake at Blenheim palace. As you got to the bottom of the lake there was a beautiful waterfall. We spent ages there just sat listening to the water, and watching the many swans, ducks and geese that were around us.

  • You certainly amuse me.  Rainie x

  • I agree. Being by water is calming. It reduces your blood pressure and instills relaxation. I've never been to Blenheim but it looks lovely. Glad you had a great visit. Rainie x

  • Hey , just wondering if you have forgotten to put the letter o between the m and the u? Are you a quiet person Joy

  • If I may enter the conversation (although I don't mind if people enter into a conversation if I happen to say something to someone, after all it's in a public domain and we all have something in common), my daughter in Peterborough says that she has been at Blenheim Palace and she knows that I like that kind of place, but that view looks stunning!

    Take care and stay safe
