Art for art's sake

I was wondering if anyone feels they might benefit from being part of an art group specifically for those here. I'm an artist, though I have to admit to you that I've produced absolutely nothing for ages due to being ill and in hospital, not having anywhere to exhibit for aeons and generally being extremely knackered out most of the time. But then I started thinking maybe I could do something positive about it. I've worked within what's called the 'Arts in Health' sphere and done a lot with things like colour therapy. I'd also like to say that you don't have to be rich to make art. I've done a whole exhibition made from recycled materials. It's all about taking yourself to another place for a while and having a bit of messy fun. No judgemental rubbish or anything like that. And if you don't think you're able to draw anything that looks remotely like what it's supposed to look like, well, that doesn't matter either. I think that maybe for starters you might like to message me if you are interested and then I'll try and work out a little programme. Just for us. Let me know what you think. Rainy X

  • Thanks for the explanation Norberry, but I really hope you will join in - in whatever capacity you can. You can't be an artist in residence unless you make some art. Why not give it a go?

  • he can be the expert in the art of pisstaking. Joy

How can you say that. I am self identifying as the artist in residence . That makes any dissent a hate crime!

  • Hi Norbs, sorry mate, neither is spelt correctly, it's Hirst and Warhol. I must say though, having been wakened with severe back pain at 5am I picked up my phone to have a gander at posts on the site and in no time I was grinning from ear to ear.

I absolutely love your attempt at spelling Warhol, I still smile when I think of it. I think it should be changed to spell it that way and lots more people may be smiling when they see it.

I think that you should be the expert in misspelling and carry on making us smile, (hope there are others who smile at that).

    Love life and family.
  • You may have it the nail on the head there.

  • Hope you are feeling better tvman. Fancy a bit of arty farty stuff? One of my projects will be all about gardens????

  • Project 1 now ready to send out. Just send me your e-mail via a private link. Absolutely no experience necessary. If you're looking for an absorbing and fun distraction please join us. If you have particular issues, such as being bed-bound and would like to have a go, that is also no bar to contributing. I hope to hear from more of you. Rainie x

Of course we were, our knowledge is very broadly and eclectically based.

  • Just a reminder that if anybody feels they would be helped by losing themselves in doing something creative, then there is an Art Club, of sorts, on this thread for anybody to join in. If you would like some simple ideas to kick off with I have three projects I can e-mail to anybody who messages me privately with their e-mail address. Absolutely no experience needed. Anything goes. All good wishes to all of uou. Rainie x
