My cancer

Hi everyone, I don't post much as I never feel I have much to offer. But i would like to ask a question . I have untreatable bilateral lung cancer. I don't appear to have any symptoms (I have plenty for my other maladies) I have applied for attendance allowance on advice from my gp (she brought me the DS1500 form)  That seems to imply she thinks my time is limited. As I live alone I feel the need to get my affairs in order as much as possible. I always thought doctors won't ever give a prognosis, but is that true? Thanks for reading.

Thats a great idea. We’ve  been looking for a hotel break in York. If we use our Tesco vouchers on line we can get 3 times the face value. I had a quick look and can get 2 nights for £50 in vouchers. Not bad eh.

We live in the Midlands. Any recommendations to where you’ve been?

    Take care guys,

    Rameses.

  • Rames, York is a lovely place to visit. We had a weekend there a couple of years ago.

i plan fun things I can enjoy while I am still here as I know it won’t be for much longer. I love the summer and the warm weather xxx

  • Gonna just book it I think. Thanks for the push.

    Take care guys,

    Rameses.

  • We're in North Norfolk and have explored along that coastline quite a bit. We like peace and quiet and the beaches are often totally deserted. It depends what you are after.

We used to live in Sheffield and the closest coastline we could get to that we liked was Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes. Been to York quite a few times and it's an interesting and attractive city - though it does get rammed in the summer -  my husband likes old trains so we went to the railway museum which was interesting - if you like old trains!

    Whatever you do. Enjoy yourselves.

  • Hi Rameses, Although I live in Scotland we have recently come back from a two week holiday in Scarborough. We liked Filey and Bridlington we have also been to, York, Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby which are also terrific but very busy in the summer. We also like the Lake District but the last time we were in Keswick (before Covid) it was a little run down.

I think even a couple of days away to plan, book and look forward to, is the thing that will keep up your spirits and you are also making memories and taking photos for the family album. I don't think it matters where you go, it's who you are with that matters!

PLease let us know where you book, there will always be someone here who has been there and can let you know where the best coffee shops, restaurants and drinking places are. Get booking!

  • I agree it definitely helps to have something to look forward to.

I’m sure the Scarborough break did you good xxx

  • Honestly Annette, fancy telling Rameses we are nutty, you liberty taker, and don't think I haven't noticed you succing up to Rainie, she just pretends to be normal well we all know what these arty types are like, the only saine people on here is AA and myself:)

  • 100% agree Ulls, Annette is taking advantage of being the senior member on here! All artists are a bit strange, they get inspiration from their strangness!

I think we are all probably a bit nutty one way or another and why not. We’ve all enough crap going on to deal with.

I’m really enjoying these discussions with you guys. Sharing ideas as to where to do for trips and things.

I got married yesterday and now that’s done we are going to start planning short breaks. Definitely going back to York.  My “wife” loves it there. Tesco vouchers can sort that. And we got lots of gift cards off the family yesterday that we can use for weekend breaks.

The kids also got us a voucher to have a him and her tattoo. What do you think to that then?  Can you imagine  two 60 year old newly weds piling in to a tattoo parlour.

I’m gonna do it though. Why not? Just need to check with the chemo team when I can do it. In the future I guess.

So I’m up for tattoo ideas too if you want to suggest any.

    Take care guys,

    Rameses.

  • There is no way I would have a tattoo, to much of a chicken, my wife is the opposite and has several tattoos, flowers, birds and butterflies
