I know that started this brilliant idea so I wanted to carry it on for her and as the forum has become a little gloomy recently as we face loosing them both soon.

So

1. daloni and dizzie outlasted their prognosis by years and I am sure proved that you can have quality of life despite doctors best guesses and we all benefited from knowing them on here.

2. I just got back from a fabulous holiday in Galicia, northern Spain. I walked more than I have for months (chemo pushed me into a wheelchair) the food and wine was fab and I met old friends and laughed a lot.

3. Macmillan have admitted that their upgrade has been a bit sh*t and are working on improving it. Hurrah for Macmillan who have admitted it didn't go well. How many organisations actually come out and say that.

I don't like to think that newbies think that we are a miserable lot, what struck me on here when I came was how much joy, laughter and living went on despite cancer.

  • My 3 good things this week:

Went to see giant earth installation called Gaia at Keele Uni chapel on Thurs - magical. huge earth hanging from the ceiling and slowly rotating to show the true scale of the continents and the oceans. Just breeathtaking to think we live on such a lovely place ( and sad we are so good at f***ing it up)

Took dogs to vets for their  second jabs , had to wait outside to be called over the hand dogs to nurse. I stood at the back of a sloping car park to avoid people at front of car park with cats in baskets and little pooches ( mine could eat them in one bite). The nurse came out and called their names and I found myself hurtling down the car park leads strained by their enthusiasm to go into vets. Nurse bent down to say hello, they went either side of her and just tried to push into the surgery door, so keen were they to get in. Others in the queue were open mouthed and woman next to me said - I wish my dog acted like that at the vets! I have never had dogs like that either - some anxious tremblers, some indifferent but never mad keen for vets. Think the staff are enchanted by their long history in rescue kennels and their characters which has categorised as "cuddle monsters". I think the staff showed them love on first visit, and they hadnt forgotten.Or they thought it would be fun to pull "mum" into running downhill unexpectedly.

My first new chemo has after 24 hours not yet caused me any issues ( is that good or bad sign?). Anyway Laxido at the ready when the inevitable happens.

In reverse order OBS, I am so pleased you are managing the new chemo. Fingers crossed for further good news.

Of course your cuddle monsters would behave like that, they love people who love them, just seeing them lounging and and snoring on your settee shows happy, happy lovely friendly dogs.

    All round good things.

  • A great 3 good things OBS x Here are mine

    1. Home from a fantastic holiday in Aviemore with our son and his wife, lots of distillery visits and reindeer.

Several people have asked me about going out with the current rise in Covid cases, I'm taking the view that if I don't go out now I may not be able to later.

Certainly 3 good things Sal. Go out now and go out later! Ruth is right, holidays are good, you enjoy yourself when you can.

  • We had another lovely walk in the snow this morning, failed to do an afternoon walk as the snow was falling heavily. Briefly had six dogs in the house at at lunchtime, back down to two dogs and two people now. Peaceful!

  • Had three early starts on the trot this week to get to various appointments, so have been feeling pretty tired. How I hate that alarm clock. I just lie there in the dark waiting for the thing to go off!  Anyway, I now have some good things to report:

    1. Saw my surgeon and he pronounced everything fine and dandy. he has no worries and concurs with the oncologist that I have a longer time between scans. He doesn't want to see me again until the end of March, though I will have the next scan just before then.  Relief.

    2. This means that for the first time in 3 years I won't be in hospital for Christmas. (I hope I'm not tempting fate here) .

    3. Ordered a posh ready made Christmas dinner and booked a spring break for next year. Also booked another art course.

That's more than three I know.  There is a down size though. I'm now diabetic. But I think I can deal with that through diet tweaks so I don't think it's insurmountable. Isn't it just typical though? You think that one thing is behaving itself and then another problem crops up. Ah well.

Love to you all and hope you are all managing OK.
