I know that started this brilliant idea so I wanted to carry it on for her and as the forum has become a little gloomy recently as we face loosing them both soon.

So

1. daloni and dizzie outlasted their prognosis by years and I am sure proved that you can have quality of life despite doctors best guesses and we all benefited from knowing them on here.

2. I just got back from a fabulous holiday in Galicia, northern Spain. I walked more than I have for months (chemo pushed me into a wheelchair) the food and wine was fab and I met old friends and laughed a lot.

3. Macmillan have admitted that their upgrade has been a bit sh*t and are working on improving it. Hurrah for Macmillan who have admitted it didn't go well. How many organisations actually come out and say that.

I don't like to think that newbies think that we are a miserable lot, what struck me on here when I came was how much joy, laughter and living went on despite cancer.

  • Yes Ruth , I'm not too bad, not bad enough for an op. Our health service in Northern Ireland is in a tragic state with people waiting years for appointments and treatment. I have been waiting over 4 years for an elbow operation. Once I have that, I'll go on the list for the other elbow.

Take care and enjoy your weeks at the seashore. It sounds idyllic.

    Tvman xx

    Love life and family.
  • yes I spotted the fishermans fingers. My wife has issues with her hands so I suppose I tend to notice these things

I forgot to say, the visit to Florida went very well. I was tired for about a week afterwards though, for sure.

    1. Ahhhhhh... we had our first cold front this week, and it is amazingly wonderful (cold front meaning it finally dropped down to the 70s F). We got to turn off the AC and open windows. I'm trying to think of an equivalent for people who live in cold winter parts of the world - maybe the first time you can go outside without gloves and a huge thick coat? Turn off the heat? It feels like it did when spring hit when I lived in the northern US. Also, gardening! I can now plant things and they won't shrivel up in the heat! I can work outside without heat stroke!

    2. I had a good walk today, twice as far as I had been going.

    3. Today I was finally able to tidy up a lot of the little/big messes that have been piling up around the house since I got sick in April. Then we had cleaners in for a deep clean - sooo nice to not have dust bunnies underneath all the furniture.

  • How lovely. It is not nice to be too hot to be able to go out and enjoy nature.

lovely to have a clean house as well.

    Ruth

  • Oh for anywhere near those temperatures. I am already starting to miss the warmth, even though the sun is shining today after heavy rain earlier. Winter is coming, and I cant wait for spring!

    Three good things:

    1. I watch Mortimer and Reeves Go fishing, even though fishing is not my thing, just think the scenery and their banter is so lovely. Last night they had a guy on who has incurable cancer and he and another person had set up a charity to give cancer patients a chance to fish and meet. I could do without the fishing rod, but just sitting looking at some of the magnificent scenery would do me. And it is followed by Chris Packham and step daughter, also visiting stunning places and getting excited by wildlife. Gives you hope that there are good things and people in the world.

    2. Been to dentist for a hygienist visit , got a "good job" from hygienist - so feeling virtuous

    3.  Got enough petrol to last me till weekend if I am careful. Am enjoying shouting at reality denying, gaslighting politicians. Its good to vent!

  • Live.today. Next Spring is the future. I gave up.wishing time awayHeart

  • I enjoy mermen and Whitehouse go fishing they have a kind sense of humour

I am always pleased after I go to the dentist having braved it and have clean teeth.

we also have plenty of petrol so no panic buying our daughter went to 4 stations then had to queue for a long time.

  • My three good things have been:

    1. Had a lovely holiday and managed to walk by the shoreline each day. Breathless yes, but didn't care.

    2. Dentist: 1st visit after lockdowns and nothing to do! Yipee.

    3. Got new Roman blinds put up which have cheered the garden room up no end.

    Take care everyone.
