Alison, Are you feeling any better today? I hope your bloods are good tomorrow I've got everything crossed for you! When do you go for your Consultation? Sorry I've sort of hi-jacked your post, it was unintentional. Please keep us posted! Are you actually going to the Christie or is it a phone consultation?

Hi Annette
My pain hasn't gone down my leg for about 3 years, it begins as a low level pain in my buttock as soon as I stand up. Just as if someone was pressing their fist into me. Then in a very short time the pain becomes more intense and affects my gait as I try to take the pressure off. Within 2 or 3 minutes, I also have a pain across my lower back and I have to sit or it becomes unbearable.
The idea of someone leaning on you is worrying, as if you are just a lump of meat, but also very believable. That could be the cause, given that you are black and blue after the operation. If that's the case, then hopefully you will get relief in time, the sooner the better.
After my 1st MRI scan I was told that I have 2 discs protruding, osteoporosis of the spine, osteoarthritis of the spine and a couple of other things that I just can't recall now. I have had 2 subsequent scans which have been done because I was offered 2 more opinions from 2 more surgeons, and they all have agreed that nothing can be done. The main factor is that my pain has moved to across my lower back. The reason given is that a similar operation to yours, apart from the spurs, has not been successful in cases where the pain has moved to across the back.
At the moment, I have to accept that and move forward. Not easy to do because I am so tired these days, probably due to my cancer condition. It never rains but it pours! Oh, I have had 2 separate courses of physiotherapy, but neither helped although the poor girl tried all she knew.
Yesterday my GP gave me details of a pain management workshop so I will be self referring and I'll give it a go. As she said, it's a matter of trying to block the signal to the brain. I asked her why they can't just cut the nerve, as well as the 2 ulnar nerves? Simple!
Hope you're improving day by day, Annette.

Hope the pain is a bit better now.
mum is still not well and very confused and took too many of her antibiotics. I am going round every day and the carers twice a day. Leg is still very red Imwill try and get a doctor to visit.
kate is now moved and Roger has had his stitches out
I am all booked in for more RFA to the biggest lung tumours even though the consultant thinks it is a very small amount of the lung mets that I have . She has agreed to do it as I don’t want the big ones getting any bigger . I got to London on April 15th and have it done on April 16th.
Ruth
Hi Ruth, I take it you managed to talk to your consultant over the phone. It's good she has agreed to do it as obviously that's what you want and good you don't have to wait long. How long will it take?
Glad Roger is on the mend! I take it if Kate has moved, she now has her dogs back? How far away from you do they live now? At least that's something less for you to worry about!
Regarding your mum, if it was me, I'd be demanding a home visit by either her GP or District Nurse as they have responsibility for her wellbeing too, it's not all on you! When my friend's mum was in a similar state, my friend spoke to the carers and they contacted the surgery for her. The District Nurse and her GP visited the next day.

Hi,
thanks for the reply
yes Kate has moved and has her dogs. Roger is driving with a bandage but seeming to cope as I was with mother all day yesterday.
i arranged for a doctor visit but meanwhile the carer called an ambulance at 10.00 yesterday I went over and ended up spending 8 hours in the hospital with mum. They gave her one dose of IV flucloxacillin then the plastic surgeon didnt come for 7 hours. He. Cut her leg and got out a blood clot and dressed it . Her leg is now pouring serous fluid as she has swollen legs and I think sh will have a leg ulcer for life. It will mean district nurses doing dressings.
my brother is coming to stay with her for a few day. I got her home to her house on my own with a struggle because she is hardly mobile and a off duty nurse helped me get her in my car outside a and e.
yesj I talked to the consultant who says I have many and much larger tumours but she will ablate 3 big ones now the date is changed to the 25th April because of the anaesthetist that knows me due to difficult intubation.
roger is cross with me as I have to take mum to the hospital dressing clinic on Monday and he wanted me to go his friends funeral with him in Birningham. I did not want to go to the funeral don’t like them and he just wants to socialise with all his old friends so Imdont see why he can’t go on his own.
Ruth
Hi Ruth, I did wonder why the carers hadn't contacted your mums GP or something but at least they have stepped up now!
You are right not going to the funeral with Roger because as you say, he will meet up with his friends and you will be on your own! I'm a bit stubborn, since diagnosis, I feel time is too precious to do things you don't want to do, so I now politely say no thanks or sorry I can't make it. Can I ask WHY you are taking your mum to hospital to the dressing clinic? Do they send transport for you both? If not, you should enquire about it. Your mum's age alone would make her qualify but you don't want to be struggling either. What about the District Nurse? Will they arrange for her to come in the future? Are you relieved they are doing some of the larger tumours too? I'm sure you will be pleased when your brother arrives as it will give you a bit of well needed rest!
