1. I'm just about to head off on a weekend with my eldest daughter (10) for a mothers and daughters activity weekend. It's raining but the wellies are packed! Hoping I survive!

2. Head a tiny 3 week old baby this morning - gorgeous remembering new life - so small and perfect!

3. Had a delivery of some amazing biscuits from a friend - special.

Have a good weekend all, despite all the hard.

    Yesterday:

Shared a piece of walnut cake with a friend

    Enjoyed the film Rocket Man

Engrossed in a book on the bus so nearly missed my stop.

An ordinary day really but a nice one.

The half term holiday is coming to a close and I’m back home from a couple of days away at my best friend’s house

    1. I’m so grateful for my lovely friend and her hospitality

    2. The sunshine today was lovely

    3. I took a walk through a field planted for bees - the farmer has cut a winding path through the flowers and there were so many bees I could hear the buzz. There were so many different types. Small ones, big ones, striped ones and a few red tailed bees, including one huge black winged red tailed cuckoo bee. Stunning.

    Hi Daloni

That's a very considerate farmer! I have left the sides of the lawn as long grass so think I may plant some wildflowers.

Bees are great aren't they? I must get a bug hotel sorted out.

    Enjoy.

    Xx

    Hi Daloni

The bee field sounds great. Nice to have a path cut though it too for walking through. We have bees and are surrounded by fields of yellow oil seed rape. The bees love it but you get more interesting flavoured honey from a field of flowers.

    Hi

Isn’t summer lovely? My three good things from yesterday

    1. Seeing friends. One lot for a picnic lunch on the river and another for tea and cake

    2. Teaching my big girl how to use the lawnmower. Her verdict: hard work but satisfying

    3. Having the patience to let my nail varnish dry properly and not immediately scuff it. Which is what I usually do.

Well that was a quiet day. I had the penultimate chemo yesterday and boy did it take it out of me. So my three good things start with

    1. Allowing myself a quiet day to rest. I’m usually beating myself up or feeling cross about what I can’t do. Sometimes I manage to be resigned to a sofa day. But today I really felt I was being kind to myself.

    2. I did perk up this evening and made some raspberry jam. It’s my younger daughter’s favourite.

    3. I have some lavender oil in the diffuser and my bedroom smells nice.

Daloni I'm glad you've allowed yourself a quiet day although making raspberry jam sounds like an evening challenge. It will be delicious though so I hope you can enjoy it too.

    My 3 good things today

Train to London was on time and quiet enough for me to have two seats to myself which is always a bonus.

My little grandson seemed to remember me (I may be exaggerating there since he's only 3 weeks old) anyway I had lots of cuddles

Delicious meal tonight of Smoked Haddock/poached egg/spinach & asparagus which my daughter and I made very companionably in her kitchen

    A good day

That sounds like a lovely day, Polly.

I disagree that jam making is a production though. I do one pot - or maybe two at a push. Raspberries from the freezer, jam sugar with the pectin already in, sugar thermometer and a jam jar that has been in the dishwasher. It takes about 20 minutes, start to finish and tastes so much nicer than the shop bought stuff. I just had some with a croissant. Yum.
