Lovely to see you posting Den Den, Anne and Cath.

    Big hugs to you all.

I am so so so so angry, I can't believe the attitude of some people !

I went to my local Hospital (Queens in Romford, Essex) to get some Macmillan leaflets for my coffee morning. To give you a bit of an idea, Queens is a Super Hospital, Three Hospitals were closed to make this one.

I walk in the huge entrance and immediately to my left is the PALS Office, Just what I am looking for. I begin scanning through the racks for the Macmillan Stuff, 10 minutes later I discover there is no mention of Macmillan and it's services what so ever.

As you all know PALS is the Patient Advice and Liason Service, so if anyone was looking for help they would have been a bit stuck. I go into the PALS office and a lovely lady behind the reception desk tells me "We don't stock any of that stuff, but you could try the Oncology Department.

I Briskly walk to the Oncolocgy department, Situated MILES away. Why do they do that !!!!!!

I go into a waiting room, ask a receptionist who points me to an office in a corner. I go into the office and there are racks of NHS leaflets on Cancer types, but no Macmillan stuff at all. I ask the lady behind the desk in this office, if she has any Macmillan information.

    "Why Do you want it?"

    I explain.

She goes to a filing cabinet in the corner of the room, opens it, and I can see about 5 leaflets. She looks through them and tells me that she doesn't like to give them out, without talking to someone first, and anyway her (HER!!!) Hospital only uses CancerBackUp.

I explain that I have used Macmillans Sevices and Found them invaluable, and if the leaflets are free could they not be displayed with the others?

    "No, I don't think it's appropriate"

    WHATTTTTT????

I could not have survived this journey with out this resource and my local hospital doesn't even mention Macmillan. No wonder so many people in my Area are struggling.

When I used to pop into my Mum's PALS Office (Homerton in Hackney), Mac Stuff was every where. All this help and no one gets told, stupid NHS jobsworth lady. Bleep Bleep Bleep.

I think today is going to be a bad day.

    Love to you all.

    Melly X

Hi Mel, thats awful!!! The onco ward where I am having the infusions done is plastered wall to wall with Mac stuff. Some people I bet she has never needed to use any of them for support perhaps one day she will realise just how invaluble Mac is XXX

    Hi Mel,

Ultrasound thursday morning (abdomen) to check spleen size?. Another infusion friday pm. Depending on the scan will be where next, the haemo said if its gone down just monitered for a while if the same or bigger perhaps mri.

Still in limbo really, I am going to ask outright on 15th (next haemo appoint) as to what this may be. They have already told me the list but I think he knows more than he wants to say. He was making sure I had'nt got Lupus when I saw him last which as you will know carries similar lymphatic system problems.

    Hi Peeps

Sam - sorry you're having a bad time. I bet your spinning head is making you dizzy! Poor thing. I hope you get some help when you see your counsellor. No, I don't need to stay away. Life just got a bit hectic for a while and I think subconsiously I may have enjoyed not thinking about the big C for a while though it wasn't a conscious decision. I'm hoping life will become less hectic with my new job - though I know it will get busier for a while. Eventually I'll be working from home 2 days per week which makes a world of difference. I won't be on a 5 day week rush to the office at least!

Em - I need to read back further through your posts to find out what's going on with you health wise. Seems like you're at that horrible point though where you're having to wait. I hope they get you sorted soon.

Mel - At our hospital we have a dedicated Macmillan Patient information centre. If you need anything, please let me know and I will pick up the leaflets you need.

Bern, Roch, Barbie - never far from my thoughts, hope your days are treating you well.

    Back to work.

    Afternoon all you beautiful people.

I am popping in, as rushing out the door. Before I go though, I just wanted to say a big HELLOOOOOOOO to you all, including Anne, Donna, Sheilley........this is a thread that spreads the love. keep it going.

I know I am a bit adhoc here. Sorry, its this new job - which is granny knicker pants by the way. hey ho, its a job and it pays the bills, so what more do I want? Nothing cause I am blessed with those in my life and I shouldn't lose sight of that.

Right off to le pub, as 15 peeps just been made redundant at hubbys job. He is fine - at the moment. Its only a job and when one door closes many more open. Plus, I need to keep losing weight - so spend less on food!! Oh, must tell you I got slimmer of the week yesterday!! Hoorah. - it was only 2.5lbs though. Shows how bad the others in my group are!! hee hee

sending you all extra strength and courage if you need it. You are all in my thoughts and I hope tonight at 8pm, when you see the clock you will smile and know that somewhere I am thinking of you and grateful that our paths crossed. Ooodles of love bern xx
