All of us on here get both good and bad news, i wanted to start a thread for all types of news, for everyone to post their news.....
  • A slightly tired looking but very smily Caz is now in Recife, in a lovely hotel by the sea. Recife is somewhere the locals all love to go for holidays, so it should be nice........she has a day off today, so I hope she will rest and enjoy the facilities (pool on the hotel roof!)

Love and hugs to you all

  • After a very long and tiring journey (both planes delayed for some reason, the journey was to Miami and then Mexico city) Caz is safely in Mexico, two days of concerts and then on Friday the start of the journey home. Today I suspect much sleep from all four 'horn section' girls, though I understand they enjoyed a spicy Mexican breakfast!

  • Caz posted some photos on email, they obviously had a really fun time with the official photographer, everyone in the band swapped instruments for the photoshoot, hilarious!

She flies home overnight tonight, not too sure of the time, we might not see her as we leave for a week away ourselves, booked it a while back, as we were not sure if we would have a chance of a break this year, owing to Caz possibly going for her donor bone marrow transplant. She knows where the cottage is and may well pay us a visit if she isn't too tired, bet she will sleep for England for a day or two.

love and hugs to you all

    Dearest Helen,

Just dropped by to wish you and hubbs a lovely relaxing holiday, if anyone deserves this then you too do.

Hope Your lovely daughter manages to join you for a little while, in the arms of her wonderful parents, lets hope she is not too tired, if she is then hopefully she will have caught up on much sleep and strength for what lies ahead of her.

My thoughts and prayers are always with you my friend, just take good care of you too.

    Love Maryxxxxxxxx

  • What a beautiful and wild part of the country we stayed in! We did all sorts, even spent a while watching the horizontal rain for a day, from the warmth of a lovely log burning fire! Actually it didn't stop us at all, we got out and about each day! But I had to get out and about even to get a phone signal! Caz wasn't able to join us but we popped in to see her on our way home. She feels that this coming Monday's results won't be a surprise, for the node she feels in her neck is growing again a little, grrr! But I won't be going up for the appointment is really about planning again, and she will keep me posted, she has already arranged a lift and appointment companion.

She looks well and brown though, and is just about beginning to get the sleep under control. Just as well, as Seal is playing in Switzerland this week! (yes, she's going!)

    Awwwww dear Helen,

It is so good to have you back dear lady.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your break, but so sorry that it rained, at least you got some sunshine and are now back in the warmth of the south lo!

It has been a mixture here too, cloudy and cold, although the last couple of days have been lovely when afternoon arrives, freezing early morning, today is beautiful, even managed to sit in the garden for a while, watching 'J' work lo.

Will be keeping everything crossed for Caz on Monday love.

Have a good evening, although I suspect you will have a mountain of washing to do.

Love and many ((((((((hugs)))))))) to you both.

Welcome back dear Helen - you seem to have been away for such a long while!!!!  Sorry to hear the weather wasn't up to much - but sometimes just having a different view out of a window is enough........That is if you can see the view through the rain!!!!

Hope the docs are making some good plans for your lovely girl.......

    Love and ((((hugs))))

  • Just had a phone call, Prof has now applied for SGN35 for Caz as the results of the Gemcitabine were as she thought, only temporary, grrr, but Prof is very hopeful about the SGN as the responses to it so far in all 17 patients are so very good. Apparently one of the first, a man, had total response (though was quite ill with kidney probs, that was before they used Allopurinol to prevent gout troubles) and his really rather bad lymphoma simply disappeared, he has now had his 'allo' transplant and is back at work!

We can but hope, this drug combination is a half hour infusion every three weeks, and is similar in that it attacks the same protein on the cancer cells as one trial drug she had before and she responded rather well to that, in fact better than any other patient world-wide. However, Prof said it might just also have been in combination with the fact she'd had back-to-back treatments before it.

    Dear Helen

So pleased to hear that there is another treatment available for Caz (I did ask on 'carrying on' how she'd got on and have just seen your post here!!).

Alan started taking Allopurinol a few days before he started the Revlimid but had a bad reaction to it....He looked as if he'd fallen head first into a nettle patch!!! So now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there are no problems with his kidneys.  But everyone is different and what suits one person doesn't necessarily suit someone else........

I wish Caz the best of luck - I will be thinking of her (and you) as she starts this next phase of her journey..........

Love and ((((hugs)))) for you all

  • Awww, so that is what Alan reacted to, then, poor man!

Caz has had that before, with her very first course of chemo, and though it tasted like drinking moisturiser, she says, it was ok and she had no problems with it. The first patient, the man I wrote about who is now back at work, reacted badly and was very ill and back into hospital, so when they team realised what had gone wrong they automatically add that to the drugs and everyone since has been ok, fortunately not reacting like your Alan.

    More hugs for you......xxxxxxxxx
