We counted the French Marigolds i have planted out today.....over 100! no wonder my knees feel a bit sore.....not to mention the scrubbing my hands needed! Just hope the snails don't regard it as a huge meal all come at once!
Boy have you worked hard today then!!!? Your garden will look lovely when all are flowering......We always plant marigolds in with the tomatoes to keep the aphids/white fly away................they actually look quite pretty against the darkish green of the toms!!!!!
I apply two coats of hand cream (I find Atrixo or Neutrogena best) before venturing in to the garden - and I wear gloves!! My hands don't take much scrubbing afterwards!!!! Try mixing some granulated sugar with a little olive oil and rubbing that into your dirty hands.......the sugar will 'scrub' at the dirt until you put your hands in warm water and the oil helps to soften them!! Some folks use salt as a scrub - OK if you've no cuts or scrapes..................but makes me say ooooh and ooowwww a lot - I'm always scratching myself on the roses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope it took your mind off your worries for a little while?? I find that hard physical work is great therapy - we always had a log pile to chop up (in the days of open fires) - that became my job - and it was sooooooooooo very satisfying!!!!! Not that I'm a violent person you understand - just needed to get rid of any aggression before i reached that stage!!!!

Dot, we did that too when we grew a lot of toms, helped enormously! My hands have recovered, I too cream them before I start, hate using gloves unless its sharp thorny stuff.....and yes, gardening is a bit like my art, takes my mind away from things I'm worrying about just for a short while, one can't remember stuff when dealing with gorgeous growing things, plants do it every time, as does painting and drawing for me.....

I try dabbling with paints from time to time - but the picture I see in front of me is not what appears on the canvas - naive impressionism is probably the best description of my daubings!!!!! But my card-making and scrapbooks are very absorbing to do - so in bad weather I'm at my craft table a lot!!! Housework is done by lunchtime and afternoons are my time - until I have to go to work or prepare dinner!!!!!! Old-fashioned maybe - but it works for me!!!!
