Hi Helen - I hope that Caz is enjoying all the gifts and stuff you wrapped up for her??  It sounds like an Advent Calendar!!  That gives me an idea for next year.............a crafting calendar!!  Enforced isolation is no fun for anyone.....but I know that you are all doing what you can to help her through this phase of treatment.  Just to make you smile - you know I like to ask daft questions...........we-e-e-ell - does she glow in the dark???????  Must get ready for work.....'...gird up the loins...' to meet the stroppy pre-teens!!!!!  I'm thinking of you all and hope and pray that all goes well for Caz......and that she is home with you all soon....Love and lots of comforting ((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))) Dot xxxxxxxxxxxxx

The group I belong to has been praying for you and Caz this morning.

Will be following yours blogs each down

Sound as if you are a very well organised person

    Tony

  • Ah, thank you for that compliment, Tony, if you only knew.........lol!

Dot, oh yes, we have done all the glow in the dark jokes, of course! (no, she doesn't!)

Today Caz is chirpy and enjoying the peace, except for the buzzer which goes off all round the ward, there is one along the corridor outside her room.....apart from the offer of breakfast at 8am! She rang her bell for some about 9.30! ( thats with being a musician, she doesn't do early mornings, 9.30 is early for her as she is still not sorted from the time change coming back from Oz!) she has internet working on a dongle so is a happy bunny. We were allowed 20 minutes today, outside her room behind a lead waist high curtain! She is right at the end of the ward, and i managed to wave to her last night, she spotted where I was, as we have been studying the view down from the 11th floor. We took her some old binoculars today, to people watch! Also a couple of snacks and a meal to put in the ward fridge, and a smoothie as well as a couple of big bottles of water, and some squash to help too, she has been told that flushing it out is good, she also has to take iodine daily.

It seemed a long way just for 20 minutes, but tomorrow we will be able to go a bit earlier and do a bit of Hampstead shopping first, we had so much to do at home this morning so didn't get away till almost 1pm.

My love and hugs to you all

  • Just had an email from the radioactive one, her count is 65, normal is 0.1 or so, so we hope the burning cancer cells feel pretty rough! yay!

Take care, everyone, my love and hugs

Kill the ............ off I say.

Does the treatment have any effect on the normal cells?

    Tony

  • Hi, Tony, supposedly normal cells shouldn't get too much take up as it is allied to the antibody, but we won't know much really for years.......she is having iodine tablets and also drinking lots of fluids which all help the body to get rid of the radioactivity.

I so agree, kill the *********!

    Thats great

When I was having R/T I lay imaging the cancer cells being killed off one by one to assist the treatment being carried out.

  • Good for you, she only had half an hour to do that, the treatment was over and done with then, she just gets her blinkers on and lives for the moment, bless her, which is why she spends so much of her time fulfilling her dreams, getting to see the world by touring as a musician, so she is paid to tour! She has become well known for being a good musician, and also for her fun attitude and caring and loving personality too. Can you tell I am proud of her?!

Hi Helen. I just wanted to come on and send my love to you all this week with everything that you all have going on. It sounds like Caz is comfortable and great to hear that she has internet access. I am sure that will help her to not feel so detached from everyone. Please give my love to Caz and thinking of you lots too x x x
