I was diagnosed in May and the anxiety has been pretty much non stop. It’s got to the point where I don’t even remember what it’s like to feel relaxed, the way I feel now is normal to me.

What are others experience with this?

  • No they said I need to speak to my consultant.

  • It does feel like people don’t really get it and the urgency you feel. It felt like getting palmed off. I don’t know if u are able to sleep I really struggled so also got a few tabs of lorazepam. It’s v addictive so I took it once in blue moon but hopefully they can also give u that

  • Morning, it's been a long time since I posted but I got a notification about this thread and yes, I'm feeling anxious, it got worse during chemo then got better once I stopped chemo. It got worse again on Letrozole which I started in March, and it feels unbearable now, it's paralysing me and I feel anxious even in bed or doing nothing. My GP did prescribe antidepressants in January but I can't take the ones which help with anxiety like escitalopram as they interact with ribociclib which I'm due to start soon. I have referred myself to talking therapies three times for counselling but they do an assessment then tell me to try and find cancer specific counselling which there isn't any in my area since MacMillan stopped providing counselling. So I so understand what you're feeling and send a big hug to you. I also try YouTube anxiety meditation videos which do help. Take care and I hope you get some help from your consultant or GP.

  • Yes i agree with you i was diagnosed december 2025 and havent felt right since. I feel on edge all the time. But ive been told its normal. I. Sure it does pass eventually. Have you had your operation yet do you mind me asking. Ive finished all of my journey and just waiting to see if everything is fine from my ct scan. All i can do is pray

  • Yes I had surgery July 2025, chemo September 2025 as much as I could do ( half of it) and radiotherapy February 2026. I didn't get a CT scan afterwards but I had a mammogram in June 2026 and they said it was 'entirely satisfactory' which I am grateful for although I expected to see different wording, like no evidence of disease or clear. I think my anxiety is partly caused by not feeling supported as I had a difficult time. II really wish you good news and a clear scan and I hope you feel better afterwards x

  • Can I ask what were ur side effects of chemo? I’m currently on Kadcyla but had taxol and AC and the side effects were horrendous. The anxiety was ramped up even more (I think from the steroids) but it gave me a really tight painful chest, difficulty breathing at times, an incredibly fast heart rate, insomnia. I always thought chemo made u tired but it was opposite for me, I felt charged up and needing to run away from myself almost.

  • Thank you very much. Anxiety is horrendous isnt it. I do understand its a hard journey isnt it and not to feel supported is awful. I hope you feel ok too this site is amazing here if you fancy a chat xx
