R-CHOP

Hello, I have just been given my schedule for R-CHOP and there is a gap of 26 days between two treatments. We are concerned because we were told by the consultant that my cycle was 21 days which could be shortened if necessary (we are trying to run our business amongst all the chaos) but not left for a longer period.

I just wondered if this is okay. I have aggressive stage 3b lymphoma and had my first treatment 2 weeks ago.

Thank you

  • Hi rob.

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the online community, I hope you’ll find it supportive. My name is Helen and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists. I’m sorry your treatment regime is different to the one you were told you would have by your consultant.

You’re right, R-CHOP is usually given in cycles of treatment over 3 weeks. However, there may be a reason why there is a longer gap in between your treatments. It would be helpful to contact your consultant or hospital team to discuss why this might be.

Some people are given a Macmillan Nurse or clinical nurse specialist after their diagnosis. They can help with information about the cancer, treatment, and help manage side effects. They can also tell you what other support is available. This may include information about social care, benefits advice, and local support groups.

If you haven’t already been referred to one your consultant or a member of your hospital team can do this.

I hope this information has been helpful, but if you need any further support please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.

    Best wishes

    Helen, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
