I ve been told I have either of these cancers,  they took a biopsy from my omentum but dont know which or both it is.

I have researched both and my findings were very worrying,  ovarian cancer is apparently very aggressive and if it has gone to the omentum from the peritoneal it is classed as advanced cancer. I dont feel my gyne doctor is telling me straight, he keeps changing his mind on the best way forward and got very upset when my gp told me I had cancer round about the 7th November,  it seems to me he is the one in denial, I just want it straight, i need to know everything,  i have told him this.......i just need to know....

  • Hello Shazzy 1960,

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our online community.

My name is Carole and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

Finding out you have cancer can cause different fears and emotions. And waiting on test results, and then for treatment to start can be an anxious time.

It’s understandable to want to know what type of cancer you have, and how it will be treated.

We would encourage you to speak to your hospital specialist team again. They should be able to explain why they haven’t been able to confirm your diagnosis yet. And they should be able to explain why they have changed their mind about the best way forward.

We have some suggestions about the types of questions you could ask your healthcare team.

Treatment is usually planned by a group of healthcare professionals. It might be worth asking them if you’ve been discussed at a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meeting yet.

I’m not sure from your post if you have a specialist nurse. If you have, you could speak to them about how you are feeling. And tell them that you would like to know everything.

If you think it would help to speak to one of the nurses, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

    Best wishes,

    Carole
