As I replace the cutting edge of urban charity for a snake in the grass, literally (glad the cat didn't see it first!).  A good book and a blue sky, I am reminded of another crusade, the mastectomy fall out and the high neck swimsuit…

I do so wish those good couture,

Could lift the necks a little more,

On running tops and swimming suit,

The no boob cleavage rarely cute...

We shave the brave and raise awareness…

Time is often about evaluating what we can do, how we can help, I wonder what more I can offer the cancer discussion, as “Brave the Shave” plays on, I think back….

The mist of a crisp August morning,

A wisp of my hair coming through,

Scalp kissed, with a fluff and a warning,

    Hope gone is returning anew...

The wig, looking better than I do,

    The gig's to pretend I don't mind,

    "It's over" you say…

New photo id entry cards have been installed at work and we had the option to supply a new photo or use the one on our HR file. Mine may not be the best but it is four years younger, so no way am I going to change that!

    Up the corner,

    Down the lane,

    Well pressed dresses,

    On the train…

    Often running,

    Jobs to do,

    Making cash for

    Others, who

    Need to know that

    Someone cares

    (sleepless nights and

    waiting chairs)…

  • Good luck!

I like Anthony Wilson's comment that whatever we write it is never the same for someone else, but at least we can be honest survivors….  The cat being my greatest supporter!

The French say, “bon courage", the Swiss wished me all the best (invariably “good times”), but what should we wish most?

I'm trying to be outstanding in the "could've copped it" club,

    I'd go and bake…

  • Choose hope...

I was recently inspired by consultant Marcus Child to “choose hope” (and CW Metcalfe’s ideas of grace under pressure), I think about how we do this when facing bad news,

    Head booms,

    News looms,

    Wait rooms,

    Bleach fumes,

    Choose hope…

    Heart thumps,

    Tit lumps,

    Tired grumps,

    Wish jumps,

    Choose hope…

    Scalp bare,

    Not fair,

    Faint prayer

    Still there,

    Choose hope…
