Hello

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how long they waited until they had their first Chemo session. My dad was diagnoised 6 weeks ago and it may be another 2 weeks until his first chemo appointment - is this normal? I guess we all worry and just want things to move as quick as possible.

I had an emergency op on 6th July and started chemo on the 6th October. Everyone is different depending on whether they have an op or not. The oncologist knows when is best. Sometimes the body has to get over the shock it has been through. Best wishes to you and your Dad. Julie XX

Hi there!

I had my op for ovarian cancer in mid April last year and didn't start chemo until the end of July as I had a bad infection in my wound. Of course, I was worried about the delay but I don't think it affected the outcome - and I probably suffered less from chemo as I had completely recovered from the op and was fairly strong by the time I started.
