never want to go thru that again!!!!!!!!!

I didn't think anything would be worse than being told I had breast cancer, but there is!!, thursday evening, approx 6.30pm my precious grandson fell and bumped his head, he will be 3 on the 28th of sept, he pulled his little chair next to the kitchen bench and climbed up, it only took him seconds while his mums back was turned and he fell backwards. He vomited and his eyes were rolling so my friend and neighbour came over, shes a nurse, said it was probably the shock but to get him checked out anyway. Off we went to local A & E, where they decided to do CT scan cos he vomited again, Dr came to see us, said Billy had a bleed between the brain and the skull and needed to be transferred to Newcastle General Hospital to see a neurosurgeon. GOD we were distraught, we thought we were being over cautious taking him to hospital, they then transfered him to resucitation unit, said he could go unconsiousat anytime, so an aneathetist was standing by incase. Both him and a peadiatric nurse would travel in the ambulance with him on a blue light to get him to other hospital quickly, about 12 miles away. Surgeon decided to do another scan, as he was STILL vomitiing, explained if he had to have surgery it would be extensive, right across his forhead and around his ear. we were getting more frightened by the minute. anyway, scan came back, apparently it was 8mm of blood, approx teaspoon and a half, but hadn't grown so surgeon decided not to operate and he went into intensive care and was monitored all night. I stayed there with my daughter, it was awful, they woke him up every 30 mins and he screamed each time, but the following day he improved dramatically, he was then transferred onto a general peadiatric ward, What a difference to intensive care, the ward was awfull and the nurses not much better. My daughter lay on the bed, we had been awake all night, Billy got up when his dad arrived, nurse came over and told her to get off the bed, she could only lie on it if billy was lying with her, nurse then proceeded to check regularly to see if she was lying on bed, we asked if billy could then be transferred back to our hospital. Surgeon arrived said he could go home on the understanding we brought him back if anything changed, he was happy that bleed had not effected him neurologically and bleed would dissolve in time without any intervention. We were sooooooo happy, things could of been much worse. I would go through my surgery, pain and anything else the big 'C'wants to throw at me as long as my darling grandson is ok. Never have I prayed so much.I guess someone up there heard me, I also know my dad and sister were looking after us during those terrible hours.
