    Hi Tasmin,

To edit or amend your page click on the words user profile on the line above your picture and then scroll down. Sorry to hear it's not good news but perhaps the MRI will show something more positive. I had a different type of cancer so I'm afraid I can't offer any 'words of wisdom' on the subject but this is a great site for support if you need a shoulder to cry on and an audience to rant at!

    Best wishes,

    KateG

Sorry to hear of your friend's diagnosis but welcome to the site, you will find support here. I have (or had?) bowel cancer with 2 liver secondaries. The bowel tumour and the 2 liver tumours were removed in the same operation after 4 cycles of chemo. I am having 8 more cycles of chemo.

Do you mean a colectomy? That is a bowel op, a colostomy is the bag thing when the bowel is removed. I don't have a bag.

It is very difficult to get your head around the diagnosis, never mind all the technical terms. Look around the site, you will find people in a similar situation to your friend.

I hope thr MRI shows good news. Keep in touch.Look at the thread "Trips and friends-new beginnings" feel free to join us there.

    Love Jen

My husband's cancer started in his bowel 3 years ago, he had a colostomy. He has coped with it very well, he has never let it stop him doing anything. He had a course of chemo & radio. before & then another course of chemo after.

Within 6 months they found a tumour on his liver & he had it removed via keyhole surgery, within 6mths they found another tumour on the other side of his liver - this one couldn't be done via keyhole.  Within 4 mths they found 2 on his lungs a month later they found another on his liver.  These were all confirmed to us in January this year.  In May he had his lungs operated on via keyhole, just 2 weeks ago they opened him for removal of his liver tumour but have said it is inoperable, & now we are waiting to hear about chemo.

All the way through he has never experienced any symptoms other than the usual chemo symptoms in the first year, he has never felt any pain & we have just been getting on with our lives as usual.  During the last 3 years we have been on holiday to Florida, France, Egypt & this year we had a Caribbean cruise.

I send you both my love & best wishes, please let me know how it goes.

    Mandy xx

Kate .. I followed the instructions but would not update .. just saved it!

But I am pretty useless on the computer.

I agree this is a great site.

jenham .. thank you for your comment and support.

I understand most of the terms as I work as a nurse, A colostomy was discussed with us by his GP but this was before the results of the scans.

I am getting to know some amazing people on here.

Mandy..I was very interested to read your story and that your husband has had no pain. I will let you know how things develop. He is very anxious at the moment because he wants some kind of treatment to start.

    Thank you all xxxx

My friend had another MRI scan today on his liver and was told the result will be in 7/10 days.

He cannot understand why he hasn't been started on any treatment yet as he imagines it just getting worse all the time.

My heart is breaking for him.

He is increasingly tired and yet his attitude is, as always, very trusting and optimistic.
