    hi sue

what they mean sue is that instaed of trying to reduce the cancer with chemo you just cope with it as it is by taking tablets/pain killers to elevate any pain or discomfort, my wife came off chemo 18 months ago and she was back to her normal self after about 3 months, not everybody can cope with chemo, the body has to takes a lot punishment and not everybody can take it. i hope your hubby recovers from the chemo effects soon, try to stay positive and treat yourselfs to somthing nice when you can

thankyou i am glad your wife is doing ok its such a frustrating situation what makes it harder is that we know the chemo was working and that the tumor he has had been reduced by almost half they want  to see from the scan if that is still the case or if they are active again. if things are the same as they were back in april they will just go for controlling it but if they are active his consultant will concider cemo at a reduced amount I think its all the waiting between appointments that drive you made and because we are awaitng this scan and that will determing the next step i guess the thing that i wondered the most was when they just go for the control method weather if things pick up and my husband got a lot stronger weather they ever reconcider giving chemo we are lucky i guess he doesnt have any pain at all. does your wife still have regular check ups to see how things are going sorry you must think i am ramberling but only been dealing with this for 6 months and i just feel so desperate and alone all the very best

when they stopped the chemo she used to a six weekly consultation to she how she was doing, she had no problems so they suggested that we ring them when we need them which we agreed with, wast of time going to appointments when there is nothing wrong. we had to go and see them latley as she has got jaundice, so we are just waiting for a appointment for ct scan which as you say is frustrating, but there is nothing you can do to speed things up so we just have to be patiant.

as for restarting chemo its a question of quality of life, we both agreed that she was happier and better off without the chemo even if it was a reduced dose. all i can say it is up to the indevidual and each case is differant

i hope your husband gets back to normal soon but it does take some time to recover

    regards paul
