here we go...

2 minute read time.
Well today I went back for another PET scan (the one with all the pretty lights!). Straightforward - am I alone in finding them kind of relaxing?!? If anyone reading this doesn't know - * Drank loads of water (no food / caffeine) before (needed the toilet for the entire hour drive - ouch). * Go through their form; lie down on a little room; takes blood sample for 'sugar test' (sorry, should've asked but didn't); saline flush then very short radioactive tracer into the line; she let me use ipod for music (no mobiles); dimmed lights and closed door * Relax for best part of an hour to let tracer get into all the right nooks and crannies. She made me wear a blanket to keep warm. Soon got too warm so wipped off my wig - she came back and burst out laughing (I think it was shock...lol) it was so funny because it hadn't occurred to her to check and I missed Wig Etiquette class - poor girl was really embarrassed cos she'd laughed at the baldy cancer patient *Taken to the special toilet for The Ones With The Ready Brek Glow - not allowed within 2 feet of anyone else and should stay well away from pregnant ladies and under 14s for abot 8 hours after the scan *Into the scan chamber - no metal allowed so jewellery, bras anything with metal buttons, zips etc off. Joggers and a tshirt is as chic as a PET Scan gets for me. Lie down with a cushion to raise your knees and arms up behind your head with a string or something to hold/rest on. Then eyes closed and slowly in and out of scanner. I thought that the hardest bit would be keeping still for 25 minutes but it was a breeze - just empty your head and doze off! There should be no side effects and you should be fine to drive/get the bus afterwards. I've had a six week wait between R-Chop chemo ending and this scan happening as described in my first thread here...apologies for being too idle to type it out again... http://www.whatnow.org.uk/cancer-forums/non-hodgkins-lymphoma-whats-next The six weeks have flown by in a blur of not very much actually :) Good things : I have drunk alcohol (ooh yesh) - eaten fish & chips (had a drink) - had bar meals (and a drink) - had some lovely walks on beaches and through fields - been out to watch my sons' band performing (had a drink) - met up with some lovely, funny people from work - sat in the garden with OH watching shooting stars (had a drink) - did some real, proper scrubbing in the kitchen (must have been drunk) - been told by some helpful young bloke at the petrol station (who was helping me take the stubborn petrol cap off my son's car) that I didn't look old enough to have a son who could drive - RESULT! Yes, my wigged-up chemo'd self is really that shallow, lol! Things in need of some work: Still not planned work for home-edded sons - got to do that this week; haven't sorted out the 'classroom' (need a drink for that); haven't found wallpaper for bathroom (where do people buy wallpaper?) So. Meeting with Consultant on 25th which leaves 8 days to do the planning/tidying bit above. Bathrom will have to wait. Didn't go anywhere so hoping to fit afew days somewhere before the thermometers come out again. God, gone on a bit there - sorry x

Yeh its good to talk as the saying goes isnt it luv?   My treatment is running concurrent with each other 5 days per week for ten minutes  for radio then once a week for 6 hour sessions chemo, the 6 hours tho isnt all chemo its flushing out afterwards cos this type of chemo can effect your kidneys!  Its all over a 6 week period, gonna be tough but i suppose could be worse ???

    Take care
