..... Cheltenham hospital!

Like most places in the UK we've had our fair share of snow this past week (a bit more is being added as I type!) and travelling has been fun to say the least. On Monday a routine trip to Gloucester Hospital was called for. We dug our way out to the main road and proceeded in an orderly fashion to Gloucester. The main roads were clear of snow and other obstacles but not the hospital, unless we could disguise Mr Bad Fairy's car as an ambulance we had to make our way to the "customer" car park. Not a grain of salt nor smidgin of grit in sight! We slipped and slid our way to the main entrance amazingly unscathed. It appears that the priority for clearing ground at Gloucester is ambulance access, helipad (understandably).... and nothing else. No pathways, nothing!

Fast forward to today and a trip to Cheltenham hospital. Totally different story. The car park attendants had worked very hard clearing huge piles of snow off the car park, all of the "roads" through the car park had been heavily gritted. Pathways had been cleared to the buildings, they have really worked their (thermal) socks off!

To heap the praise on Cheltenham's shoulders even more the staff (including the volunteers) in the oncology department are superb. The nurses in particular work incredibly hard around an appointment system (which is not under their control) that fails miserably! Despite the frustration this must cause them and their patients they are unfailingly cheerful and efficient. They always have time for the people they are treating and are always willing to give advice or get questions answered for you. As a patient I couldn't ask for better care from them.

One little chuckle that I must share. Whilst sat in the waiting room I overheard a helper explaining how she had escorted someone in to have a sample taken by the "flea-botomist"! Well it made me laugh!!
