My dad passed away yesterday and I'm devastated. Although he was a good age 81 he was a wonderful dad and we are all goingto miss him. I found this past week extremely hard as he deteriated quickly and was clearly distressed and very very ill. Think nursing staff were also surprised by how quickly things happened. Very upset that I wasnt with him at the end.

How very very sad for you to have lostyour Dad so quickly. There are no words I can offer to make you feel better I am sure. Dear Poppy, my sincere condolences at the fast decline and passing of your Dad. Its funny, but some people "wait" for a loved one to get there before leaving, and other's wait until they are alone and then leave their body. I had a friend who sat by her mother's bedside non stop for days and nights, never leaving her side, or alone. One night when only she was there, she got up to go to the bathroom and her mother passed while she was gone! She was devastated at first and then later realized it was as her mother wanted it. Be open and welcoming at this time and my hope is that he comforts you somehow before he begins his next journey. Best, Lori
May I add my condolences on the passing of your dear dad Poppy. I agree with Lori that loved ones often choose to go on their biggest 'adventure' while there is no one with them. I understand the longing of loved ones to keep them earth bound stops them from 'leaving' which is why so many leave when on their own. Your dad will always be with you and as Lori also said he will find a way of comforting you. So, keep an open heart and mind and don't put anything down to "just my imagination". Thank you all for your comments. They are a real comfort. My daughter and I read them last night and we were very moved by your words and kindness. It helps to come on here and realise your not alone and others know what you feel like. You also realise that there are a lot of very brave and strong people out there, who have gone through a lot, my heart goes out them. take care x
