well operation over now for the next step

Less than one minute read time.

I had my neck dissection  done on the 25thJan but things didn't go to plan a complication occured and I  was kept in for 5more days than expected and although I am out now it is with the drain still in and an extremly strict diet  with orders to go back on Saturday

My C.T. scans were clear but while in Hospital I got a phone call to arrange a P.E.T. scan and they asked if I had any operations in the last 3 months can you believe it? so now I don't know if that is yet another mix up and should have been done before my operation as I have had both operations in that time

Grateful as I am for anything they can do, I am starting to feel they could do much better

All I can do for now is hope they can get on top of this latest complication and go from there.

Sorry if this blog sounds self pitying but at present I am  a bit down

love to all

Sandra.

well I got the tube out yesterday which was a relief, although I've been told to stick to the diet until I see Mr Liddington so it is going to be another month at least.my P.E.T. scan is due on 8th March so hopefully he will let me know the results of that at the same time

So now it's back to waiting

Hope you feel a bit better with the drain gone sandra but thats unfortunate about having to stay on the diet.

Its frustrating when they mix things up and then it makes you question everything as your faith in them is diminished.

and the waiting....how we hate the waiting! if only we could skip that bit!

    take care of yourself

Glad to hear you are now drain free Sandra & that you have a date for your PET scan. At least if you get the scan results at your next appointment you don't have to make a special journey back again. The diet must be a real pain - you will have to put together a menu of your favourite food & have it for your first proper meal when you come off the diet. The long wait will make it taste even nicer!

I hope you can keep yourself busy now until your scan & consultant appointments to ward of the 'scanxiety'. At least if the weather continues to improve like today you can get out for a stroll in the fresh air.

Take care, lots of best wishes, Angie xx

I had an appointment today to see another doctor at jimmys this time it was doctor Coyle it seems the melanoma had broke through the lymph sack so now I need radiotherapy  I have to have a face mask made and 25 fractions of radiotherapy and will get an appointment to see about clinical trials in the near future so my hope of a break from this looks like it won't happen yet

I'm so sorry to hear about this complication Sandra but hopefully the radiotherapy will sort it out & you can start getting back to something like normality. Good luck with the treatment - keeping my fingers crossed for you,
