Sticking the knife in...

1 minute read time.

Well it seems a bit odd starting to write a blog at this stage but I guess it's better late than never. Here's what happened over the past 18 months to bring you up to speed:

  • 2006? - Noticed a huge lump under my arm and spoke to my doctor about it. He said "ah, it's just fat!".
  • May 2008 - started getting severe pains in my back and stomach
  • August 2008 - lung specialist noticed "the fat lump" following a CT scan
  • September 2008 - Had a surgical biopsy under left arm which showed that the lump was in fact hodgkins lymphoma (nodular lymphocyte predominant "NLP")... not fat at all... well maybe a bit of it! I was at stage 3b.
  • November 2008 - April 2009 - had six sessions of CHOP-R chemo
  • June 2009 - PET scan shows ongoing activity under my left arm
  • July 2009 - had another surgical biopsy under left arm
  • August 2009 - "You're in remission"... yay!
  • September 2009 - (after further PET scan) "erm... you're not in remission... d'oh!". Wrong tissue removed during biopsy in July.
  • 5 October 2009 - had yet another surgical biopsy under left arm (to get the right tissue!).

So that's where I currently am... waiting for the biopsy results which come on Tuesday 13th October at 4 p.m.
