Day 13 Chemo 2 the results of my CAT Scan

2 minute read time.

Today was the day to go to the hospital and meet My oncologist who also had the results of my CAT Scan.
We arrived early and couldn’t find anywhere to park so had to go back outside the Hospital grounds and park in the road.–not a good start.
Sat around a long time waiting as everyone else went in and was getting bored but worried as I thought it was going to be bad news and they were leaving me until last.
Finally a nurse weighed  me and I could see I had put on weight.
At last at 4.30pm I was called in and the Doctor was there with Tony The Senior Cancer McMillian Nurse.
I was told that I had put on weight and I said I know bad isn’t it but I have jeans on this week and they laughed but Tony said it was great as it is a good sign as I mustn’t loose weight.
Gosh!!!  I have been paying Weight Watcher’s money for years so it great to be told put on weight.

They then told me my Talc op and the Chemo are working– a scan has shown the Tumour that was playing up has been stopped from growing and the others are not growing — so  the life extension they gave me of  my 4 months – 2 year can be extended –by how long they don’t know–but I have an extension
They asked me today if I wanted to go on with Chemo it took me by surprise so I said OH no I want to have all 6 (I have had 2 now) I never asked why they asked the question.
So I never asked what would happen if I stopped– should I stop will it be beneficial to go on.
All questions I must ask At my Pre Chemo next Monday.
Then the Doctor said they have picked up that my thyroid  is enlarged so a Biop is to be arranged but I said as I have had a weight problem for years so it must hav been playing up for years to so I don’t see anything is that wrong and she agreed but just lets check so of coarse I agree.
So that’s the good news I can at least have a great Xmas and plan my holidays next year Wales, Ireland  Scotland Motorhome Show and Hamble Rally for our golden Wedding May Bank Holiday
Its going to be a wild year.

  • Hi

Im sorry about your husband it is a dreadful Industrial Desease that is becoming more and more noted.

The Tacl Op as i call it is the Op where they drained my Lung and then Puffed Chemica,s (talc included)l in to stick the Lung Linning to the Lung so now no more fluid in my lungs but the tumour is also covered and it has been known to cut off the blood supply to the Tumour but more studies are needed to prove that.

Then with the Chemo it has sent my tumour to sleep--not remission --as they know it might flair up again or some of the other seeds will start up.

My Lung looks like it has loads of smaties on it and they have spread to the chest wall--so there are so many that could flair up.

My prodgosis was 4ths -2 years but now that stands a chance of being extended but they dont know how long for and make no promises.

I will be happy for the 3 years that your husband had and you never know I might get longer than that and a cure just might come soon fingers crossed.

    Love Mavis

Thanks for replying Mavis. Fingers and toes crossed for a cure. As I said it is rife in my town. I think that Talc op was offered to Richard if and when his lungs fill up but they never did. It did travel down the abdomen wall though and it blocked his heart valve eventually. He was amazing and he worked up until a week before he died when he had to concede and go into hospital  to have his legs drained (Lympodaema) He was a very private man and didn't want anyone to know about his illness not even his family which was hard for me , having to keep his secret.( not like me I shouted it from the roof top Hey I have bowel cancer) I think that is what kept him going for so long .Sheer determination to carry on as normal. So Mavis I am with you all the way on this one. I read everyone of your blogs. Take care Love Julie XX
