Lower immune and chicken poxs

Less than one minute read time.

not sure what to do.... and not sure this is the best place to put this but here goes!

My friend (who I am suppose to see tomorrow) thinks her son "may" have chicken pox.

Dave still has a low immune system after chemo & radio therapy and my friend and I are worried that it might pass on to him.

But am I just being over protective?

He hasn't been that well since finishing his steriods this week.

Arhhhh this is so hard.

Does anyone have any advice?

We have recently had a really bad outbreak of Chicken Pox at my kids school, luckily my kids have all had it but I mentioned it at the hosp, I am currently undergoing Chemo.  They took an extra blood test to check my immunity and due to a mis-understanding (they thought my kids had it) they were going to give some precautionary medicine.  The mis-understanding was sorted out and they felt I didn't need the meds.  I would advise your friend to tell the hosp if their son does turn out to have Chicken Pox, my Dr told me it was the right thing to do.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi

If I were you I would pass on the visit just in case your friend's son does have chicken pox. You may not suffer any ill effects but you could possibly pass it to your hubby?

I carried on pretty much as normal during my chemo but having had one hospital stay I was obviously keen to avoid any more so wouldn't take unnecessary risks.

No your not being over protective, why take chances, I wouldn't be happy if someone knowingly was in contact with something contaigous then came near me when I was having chemo, your doing the right thing .... You know the old saying.... Better safe than sorry....

It's not a chance I would take. I was advised not to be around anyone with any infectious diseases, it's not worth the risk. My neice had chicken pox last week, so I guess there's something going round.

    Best wishes, Christine xx
