hello im new 2 this..

Less than one minute read time.
hello my name is hayley , i had cancer in 1994, hodgkins lymphoma in my chest, i had 8 cycles of chemo and 5 weeks of radiotheraphy. Thankfully i have been all clear since then. i am now 35 years old. In 2006 i had a heart attack totally out of the blue, which the doctors are 80% sure was caused by lesions on my arteries caused by my radiotheraphy treatment 12 years ago. Since then i have had two stents fitted in my arteries at papworth hospital and have been fine since. i just wanted 2 know if anyone else has had long term side effects from any treatment 4 cancer. Many thanks.

hi Hayley. I had a friend that was having radiation for cancer. He got the all clear to go back to work and died that day. They said it was the radition that had distroyed the musles in his heart, and therefore had a heart attack. He was a lot older than you but their must be some truth in what your Dr has told you. Be positive im sure everything will be fine for you.  Best of luck with your health.

thankyou 4 your  reply and good wishes  Jill, yes i will keep positive ,when i had the  actual heart attack some of my heart muscle was slightly damaged, but apart from some occasional palputations, touch wood! i have been okay. However i have 2 go for a mammogram every year now as some hodgkins lymphoma in the chest patients that have had radiotheraphy have gone on 2 suffer from  breast cancer!.

I have NHL..wrapped itself around my main vein so I have had chemo & radio..touch wood I don't develop anything else. Your stents should do a great job..I have one in my vein..it's done a good job so far..keep smiling..you're obviously a real fighter!!!
