20) 5 days post 4th & final Paclitaxel

Less than one minute read time.

This one has hit me a lot harder than the others which has surprised me!  I was fine the day after Chemo but that may have been down to the steroids.  Day 3&4 were a complete washout & I spent most of the day in bed! Barely had the energy to drag myself to the loo!! I have never felt this bad throughout the whole thing!

Today though I feel more myself again so hope the worst is over! My liver levels were elevated going into this final cycle so I am trying to eat lots of “liver” friendly food & drink loads of water to flush my liver & bring levels down.

I have a 5 week break now & will then have an appointment to see what the next steps will be. Next steps as far as I am aware will include Letrozole & bisphosphonates.  Looking forward to having a break from hospital visits for a while.

My hair is growing back - tiny little shoots visible - am happy about that but guess it will take yonks to get it back to pre treatment length:(

  • Hi SC1,  thanks for your lovely message -I found keeping this diary really therapeutic & I’m really glad you found it useful!

It’s great that you have put EC behind you now - the side effects of all of this are really horrible but will be worth it if it keeps us well!

I sometimes still can’t believe this is actually happening- it seems surreal at times but we will plough on & get through it!!

Good luck with re rest of your treatment xxx

  • Hi I've messaged you before but just wanted to thank you again for your blog as I'll be starting chemo next Friday anId 'll be having  the same types as you had. Reading what you put has made me feel a bit calmer about it all so thank you. X

  • Hi there,  I’m glad it has helped put you at ease - the prospect of chemo terrified me but I got through it & you will too :). Good luck for Friday - pop back & let me know how you are getting on with it (when you feel up to it) xxx

  • Thank you soo much for writing this diary. I'm just about to embark on my chemo treatment and you have just greatly helped with my anxiety and fear. Also, you have helped me decide to opt for the picc line. I wish you all the very best Heart

  • Wise move on the picc line - I wish I had done from the start! It makes the whole process so much easier. The only down side is that you have to get it checked weekly but I got used to the hospital visits & it gave me a chance to ask questions if I was worried about anything.  Good luck with your treatment- it will fly by once you get started xx
