Debs Daily Deliberations 201

3 minute read time.

Yes yes I know I am late today, you can blame that on Mr Richard Branson. Had intermittent internet and tv this morning, so decided to do my shopping first.....saw a Virgin Media van in our close on my return and still the service was on and off like well "a professional ladies knickers"!!!!!!

Tuesday and the kids were due back at school....my goodness what a battle it was to get them all ready and out of the door. First Sean couldn't find his school tie, Tony has told the boys time and time again to put it in their blazer pocket. I eventually found it underneath the quilt at the bottom of his bed along with a little pile of t-shirts and underwear I had obviously put there days (maybe weeks) ago!!! He was having a real hissy fit as the school has now introduced clip-on ties but you have to have your top button done up to wear them - my boys still have the traditional ties and can get away with holding the shirt closed that way! So of course, had it been lost......a clip-on would have to be purchased. Then Jack had no pens and Lara was yelling at Jack over something or other - raincoats I think. By the time they left I felt like I had done a full days work! Todays photographic intermissions are from The Gibberd Garden taken May Bank Holiday 2009.

It was persisting down with rain but as I no longer have to worry about what my hair looks like, I left wearing smart black slacks, grey and black coat, black hat and my wellies under my trousers!!! I don't care what I look like, I was hoping to find some puddles for jumping in. I was out of luck, considering how much rain we had and were still having......there wasn't anything worth a splash in, so had to make do with kicking up wet leaves.

Decided to make chicken noodle soup to have before karate and then sweet n sour pork on our return. Once home I skinned the chicken thighs and added them to my stewpot with water, grated fresh ginger, crushed garlic and some dark soy sauce. They simmered all afternoon and when everyone was home I removed the bones, shredded the chicken and added some chopped pak choi and spring onions. A couple more dashes of dark soy and it was ready and really delicious. First time I had tried making it and will definately do it again......cheap and filling.

It was just Tony and Jack training tonight, but I went along to have a chat to the crazy Japanese lady, she has such a wicked sense of humour and keeps me laughing for the entire hour. the students parents are quite a diverse bunch at the club, we have a Japanese/English girl, two Dutch/English brothers, a Malaysian/Dutch girl and two Indian sisters. Natsuko (not sure if thats how you spell it but its sounds like it) suggested that we should have an evening where everyone cooks something traditional and brings it along, I think this is a fab idea and the last lesson before Christmas is going to fun and games and prizes...so that would set it off fabulously. Guess I'll be making mince pies then, or maybe Shortbread.....yummmmmm.

Home and nobody is hungry enough to warrant me cooking sweet n sour pork, so we settle for a cuppa and a slice of fruit cake. I let Tony use my computer as his laptop really is hanging onto life by its fingernails and look at the TV, you know when you are not really watching it but its on kinda thing. I had noticed I have been sneezing on and off today and now my nose had started to run.......I HAVE A GOT A COLD (everybody say awwwwwww), the first one since the beginning of radiotherapy in March, so I haven't done bad considering all the lurgies that my kids and husband have been through this year.

Ten o'clock and I decide I will have an early night as I only finished chemo last week and don't wanna push my luck with the cold, I don't want anything delaying my last cycle at the end of November.

hi,debs..your uniform probs remind me of Sams schools latest rule. Apparently some girls (its a girls only school) have been wearing coloured bras under their blue blouses. This is a no-no so they have imposed a new rule that jumpers have to be worn AT ALL TIMES even during the summer! Maybe the male teachers can't cope?! Sam says she is so glad that when she goes back next Sept she will be in the 6th form where there is no uniform. But you should see what the 6th formers wear!!

I agree the school my kids go to seems to be more interested in having a little communist camp going - strict uniform policies - rather than whether the kids are learning well or not!  We get a text home if they forget a pencil?!?!  However I actually agree with clip on ties, it was one of the things I worried about when my eldest started, a great tool for a bully!  Bus drivers etc wear them now too for the same reason I imagine.  The school shoe policy is the worst!  Don't get me started on that one LOL

Oh bmaleus, how lovely of you to say I sound normal - you will learn thats probably the complete opposite of me LOL
