Debs Daily Deliberations 174

3 minute read time.

Tuesday and I woke with just a faint hint of Buttercup in the background, I think she was just grumbling cos she didn't wanna get up yet Wink Got all the lunches done and begrudgedly (is that a word, well it is now) went out into the garden in my dressing gown and slippers and tiptoed through the wet grass (not tulips) and cleared up rain soggy dog poop....not the best way to start the day, I can think of 100's of things I'd rather do! The chaos that is three teenage kids getting ready for school ensued ..... finally by 8.20am peace was restored as the front door closed for the last time. Now my first decision of the day, do I dash to Tesco's now and hope my parcel doesn't arrive early.....or wait for a bit and hope the rain stops and my parcel arrives? See even when you 'retire early' you are still faced with lifechanging decisions Huh?

Waited till 10am and when the rain stopped I thought bugger it, if I miss the parcel, Tony can drive me to the post office when he gets in from work. So I hunt down my black rain mac and put on.......black boots - OMG summer really is over, the boots are back out! Topped off my ensemble with a black hat today and matching black umbrella ella ella eh ehMusic Off I toddle, literally cos my boots have little wedge heels and I feel like a newbie in them after wearing pumps, trainers and slippers for almost a year now. Do my shopping, was going to do a turkey curry but then Lara doesn't like indian, so would have to do two dinners and decided to do sweet n sour turkey instead with rice (mushroom rice for Tony & I) and duck spring rolls....not forgetting prawn crackers! Headed to the detergent aisle for some stain removing products, Sean's white PE Top was splattered with mud and kack off the running track at school - they are lucky to have such a fabulous running track (same type as the Beijing Olympic track but smaller) but its RED.....why don't schools have navey tops you know something practicle...but WHITE! Oh I am rambling again....buy a spray stain remover and an in-wash one and pay for my shopping.

I'd say it was raining when I left Tesco's but thats a lie - it was pee'ing down and now I had two bags to carry......oh well sod it, I'll get wet, its not like I need to look glamorous for vacuuming is it! Decide that it might be time to buy some flat black boots for this year as my very nice ones are not really suitable for the shopping walk! Get home and towel dry my straggly bits of hair that were poking out from under my hat and have a cuppa tea. Lunchtime and I made myself a nice multiseed bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, cracked black pepper and fresh unwaxed squeezed lemon. Bleedin' gorgeous!!!!!!!!!

Re-fuelled I tackle the cobwebs that seem to have appeared overnight and the more I looked around the lounge, the more I could see!!! So, out comes Henry and I suck them all up, including several spiders - sorry I know its cruel but I am scared of them and Henry is very powerful and they just kinda got sucked in along with the dust and cobwebs! I even dust and polish the windowsills, TV and trophy cabinet...which don't tell anyone but I just dusted around the medals & trophies today...just couldn't be asked to do it ALL......I think it might be time for some of them to go up to the boy's room. I was on a roll, back into the kitchen, washed up (wearing a new pair of bamboo lined gloves......actually lasted a few weeks the last lot) and dried up and cleaned all the work surfaces.

When Tony and the kids came home, I actually felt like I had done a days work for a change. We had an early dinner and then Tony and Sean headed off to karate for an hour, Sean came home soaked from working out with the adults. Meanwhile I had helped Lara do a few more slides for her Tudor Powerpoint Project and then settled down with a cuppa tea and some choccy biscuits to watch TV with the family. Oh yes, my parcel never did arrive........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

We have got a Henry and I hate him. Bloody thing tripped me up when Eleanor was here and I swore. When I went back in the kitchen Eleanor was sat down talking to him and telling him "Not to trip Granpa over because he is old and poorly!" Needless to say, Henry has taken no notice and every time he is left out I do finish up tripping over it. I even made him his own little house and bought him a Christmas present one year to no avail.

    Debs my lovely

Someone once told me I should be using varnish on my clothes stains I cannot remember who it was but it dont work!! .

I cut round the stains on my joggers and let the holes get frayed a bit like the kids who pass my bungajoe every day,but they didnt think it suited me so in the bin they ave ad to go .Paint splashes' oil splashes'  glue, everthing!!

The dust men didnt think I looked good in em so that was the decider. In the bin .

the dustmen stop off at my bungajoe every thursday morning and park up the truck and make themselves a cuppa in the summerhouse where they can have a smoke out of the rain. if its not raining they dont smoke in there but one of them had been making crew tea in my houses for about 30 years now , where ever I have lived in Scarborough they have always knocked and shouted in the door, then made the tea.

A bit of a shock for a lady, , who stayed over one night and in the morning got out of bed to "Make a cuppa tea" having no night attire she had on one of my massive short sleeved vests which just nicely made her "decent" she was in the kitchen when the driver dustman shouted through the door  to say they were making the tea, and could he use my loo.Its an outside loo so I dont know why they bother to ask.!

Poor lass I had forgotted the door wasn"t keyed" with the chain.

There was more than one pair of cheeks looking flushed that morning. Poor Bert he couldnt believe his eyes and just stood there in shock. Never seen a woman in such skimpy attrie here before. Helen ( not her real name) passed me on the way across the lounge, her heading for the bedroom  and me  heading for the kitchen to rescue what i could.

she still comes over, but has never stayed overnight since. Pity she's in her sixties ,good company, and understands my problems.so we dont expect too much from each other...WE often go up to Whitby for the day or Thornton le dale ----find a nice pub to have lunch in the country somewhere and come back with the Lexus full of plants, flowers. anything we see and want.she rides a honda gold wing motor cycle in the summer but has out it away for the winter now and uses her bus pass, she has a 20 mile journey to here so kit takes the bus an hour and a bit , on the bike it takes her 20 minutes max she is a speed freak.

Hi Debs, Glad Buttercup is backing off a bit, you sound more your 'old' self today. I've got a Henry too but haven't touched him in months.  Hubby does the house,  not sure I'll remember how to use him when he goes back to work.

    What's in the parcel?
