Well, chemo day is nearly here. Went to the Marsden this morning, they had the results of the PET scan and it showed a re-active lymph node under his arm so he is now 2A and will have to have 3 cycles of chemo (ABVD) - a session every two weeks starting from tomorrow followed by 15 days of radiotherapy. Didn't realise he would have so many other medicines to bring home with him tomorrow including the injection for the day after to boost the white blood cells.
In the last couple of weeks we have had two trips to Hammersmith Hospital to do some sperm banking for insurance! Had a lovely visit from his CLICSargent Youth Worker who told him lots of good things that were available to him. Advised him not to go to work but to concentrate on getting himself better - still trying to convince my husband on this one, he thinks Alex would be better at work as it would take his mind off of the cancer. Also Alex, his Dad and brother are in a group and have a gig booked for 9th March which he is still hoping to do so hopefully he will feel well enough :)
As Marsden is only 20 mins away they are going to phone us when the chemo mix is ready so that is good and will avoid a lot of waiting around. The next sessions will be on Thursdays after the Lymphoma clinic, blood test appointments.
Alex has just had his hair trimmed - decided not to have it shaved yet in case it doesn't fall out, but he has some bandanas ready just in case!
I have the ear thermometer, Sea Bands, ginger biscuits etc ready in case he needs any of them too so hopefully prepared for what awaits.
