1 minute read time.
Hi everyone - Just joined today. My name is Stephanie, I am 39 years old and completed treatment for Breast Cancer at the end of November, 2008. I live in the United States - Florida. Have two children, a 13 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. I have a wonderful, caring, husband, without them I would have never done as well as I did. I had to keep a posetive attitude for the sake of my children - my son kept me busy and running even when I didn't feel like it. I didn't have much choice! I am currently going for blood work every 6 weeks - so far so good. I'm only a few months into my "new normal" life. I am still feeling the effects of the chemo (the sore body, stiff joints and fatigue) Don't know how long that is supposed to last. I have tried getting back to the gym - some days I am so sore, I just can't make it. Perhaps I started too soon? If anyone has any insight I would love to hear from them. Anyway - I am glad I found this group and I hope to get to know more of you and make friends who actually know what I am going through.

thanks for all your imput - and yes kate - we have spoken - i guess I should have been more clear in my blog - i'm not new to the site, just this forum!  Sorry everyone - didn't mean to confuse! - I'm confused all the time anyway!  I joined this site at the beginning of this year - and I love it!  I enjoy talking with people that can actually relate to what I am feeling on a daily basis.  Noone else around me can understand - and I can't really explain it to them.  Thanks for being such a wonderful group of people - and I look forward to getting to know all of you and making (hopefully) lifelong friends.

    steph :)~

    Hi Jewels

I agree with your comments about Haslar hospital my Dad was in there in about 1980 and as you say so clean and the nursing staff so efficient ,my husbands son was also there when he was hurt in a car accident in the Falklands, they were talking of closing it then.

We are lucky we now live in Scotland and my husbands treatment for his Lung and Prostate cancer has been fantastic.

I know how far it is to St Mary's when my daughter was born in 1967 I was staying with my parents in Rowner and I had to make the journey to St Marys, it was a new maternity hospital then and like a hotel, although when I went back in the 1980's to visit my Uncle it had changed quite a bit.

When I was a teenager in about1958 there used to be a car ferry that went over to Sallyport so in that respect things have gone backwards in regard to the journey to Portsmouth.

I have read your profile and I am sorry you have been through so much and hope that things go well for you in the future.

    Take care

    Maureen x
