Annoyed!!

2 minute read time.

I went for my CT scan this morning which was fine and I managed to drink the gastro in half an hour as no one was looking...that stuff is awful!!  My dad came and sat with me as he is still in and we had a nice chat about how hes feeling and it seemed to help him.  After the scan we went for a coffee as I was gasping due to the fact I couldnt eat or drink anything before the scan and I am a total coffee addict!! I also had a cheese scone with butter which was yummy.  I had a missed call on my mobile and it was about my pending appointment tomorrow for my MUGA scan.  They wanted to change it from 10.15 to 4 pm err no I have to work and have already wangled it for me to be there at 10.15!! So I phoned the salon and I have clients in pretty much all day as I am covering for a colleague who has gone away (again!!)  So sorry no can do!! I telephoned the appointments dept only to be told they have no isotopes until 4 tomorrow so I cant go in any earlier.  Well I have an onc appointment Monday and need the scan before then and I am working the rest of the week....and with my job I cant just take time off as I have clients booked in and am already covering for someone else. HEADACHE!! So she was really rude and told me I HAVE to change my clinic appointment and the only other scan date will be Friday 14 th.  Well I really dont want to change my clinic appointment as I get the CT results then and that is this Monday (10th) and its bad enough waiting that long for the results, I dont think I could function waiting another week.  Plus I'm not due any treatment til the 18th so its not like I am jeopardising my heart health is it??  Its just very frustrating as I have been a regular for 3 years now and its the same old routine...you would think they could get it right wouldnt you??  Also they have had my appointment request since Feb and they only gave me the appointment for tomorrow last week but only because I chased it up!!  Well lets just hope I get good results hey!!

Yes thats what I am going to do thanks Vee.  It just messes everything up doesnt it as you kind of plan it all into your normal routine. I'm on Herceptin at the mo and this drug can affect your heart so I have MUGA scans every 3 months to monitor this. They inject you with a small amount of radiation which allows them to trace the blood flow in and out of the heart to make sure it is pumping properly. They say it is 100% full when blood goes in and the result of the scan is how much is pumped out again...anything over 50% is a normal result but if it goes below 50% they usually give you a break from the treatment.  So basically I have to have this scan before I can have any more Herceptin which is on the 18th May then I'm off to the lake district for a week so hopefully it will all work out ok. Will let you know how it goes speaking to my onc!! xxx
