We have so few things to celebrate these days but the past 2 days have been good.
Yesterday my son passed his driving test, the relief was immense and I was so proud of him. Then today I found out my lumpectomy had been a success, clear margins and lymph nodes. So now I can move onto chemo.
I have an appointment with my oncologist on the 22/9 with chemo to start up to 2 weeks afterwards.
Im dreading it but so many people have endured chemotherapy that surely I can get through it too.
So as the new term begins and my colleagues all return to the classroom I'll be getting my house and garden in order, reading, relaxing, walking and trying to relax before I am subjected to poison that will hopefully rid my body of any floating cancer cells. I've never missed a September since I started teaching in 1996, it will be strange.
