Running after breast cancer

Less than one minute read time.

Only recently finished chemo and rads (still having herceptin), and got some further surgery but running the London marathon on 17th April.

Found out that I got a place to run for Macmillan at the end of last week and have managed to grind out my longest run of 6 (slow) miles so far (so only 20 to go!). Eek!!

8 miles planned for my 'long' run this week and feeling good. On a superficial level, really hoping my hair will be long enough by the marathon to feel comfortable running without a hat. But, more importantly, running gives you a lot of thinking time and I keep visualising running the last part of the marathon along Embankment. That makes me feel a bit emotional /  tearful (fears about the cancer returning and thinking of others affected by cancer), which makes it difficult to breathe and still run - gotta get that under control or I'll never finish!
