    hi there,

you will be amazed at what they can do for you.  my hubby had kidney cancer when he was 41 and we also have 3 kids (youngest then was only 7!) his tumour was 5cm in size and the whole kidney and everything attatched to it came out. you can function just as well with a quarter of one kidney. if you get it done with keyhole it is a lot better for yourself (and you wife)  i had to help my hubby with showering/dressing etc untill he was able to do it himself. my hubby had open surgery (as it was 12yrs ago) so recovery was slightly longer. they will probably send you for annual ct scans so they can keep an eye on you. i hope this helps, and if you or your wife would like anymore help i am at the other end of an e-mail lol. please also remember everyones cancer is different and i can only help with the experience we have had.

my kindest regards to you and your wife
