Bertiebassett Dec 20th

1 minute read time.

For the first time in 16 months Bert slept all night, I didn't cos I kept expecting him to waken for the toilet. He can't get himself out of bed when he wakes up as he is normally in pain and can't get his legs to work. 7am he woke I got him up for the loo and sneaked back into bed as it was freezing.

I never heard him come out of the loo never noticed him either as I was reading the next hing is a very loud clatter as he falls down the stairs.

I found him sitting on the bottom step holding on to his arm which has a large graze and is all bruised. He wanted something to eat and thought he would get it himself.

Bearing in mind his morphine has been increased which makes him sleepy anyway it normally takes at least an hour before he is able to walk about properly and despite the fact that he has been warned several times he insists on trying. Perhaps this fall will make him think twice the next time, but being a man I doubt it!!

He had loads of panic attacks yesterday and did not really have a very good day. Had a couple of visitors but could not stay awake long, but that's fine.

Nothing much else happening for the time being

Love Teri

Aw Teri, I am still thinking of you both. I am so glad to hear that you have your kids around for support. I hope Bert has not hurt himself too much, it must be hard for him too, maybe he is not always thinking straight with all the drugs etc. I hope you are looking after yourself. Take care Lesley xx

    Hi Tarnie

Yes Bert does forget things and gets very confused, I am not sure if that is down to the disease or the drugs or perhaps a little of both. Couple that with the fact that he is almost completely deaf and doesn't like wearing his hearing aids. More than anything else that is the 1 thing that drives me crazy. But never mind he would not be the same person if he change that now.

    Take care

    Love Teri
